NVidia updated the 9800m GT's page: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800m_gt.html
Doesn't this mean that it now really is equivalent to the 8800m GTX?
-
If you look at the pic, it says 8800M GT on the GPU... or does it?
-
No it looks likea 9 to me.

Since they're also based on the same core and are clocked almost, if not exactly, identically - I'm guessing it is.
-
Isn't the 9800M GT a G94? That's what the drivers say.

Great info, thanks. I'll update the GPU Guide.

The topic is true. end of story.

Judging by preliminary benches , it`s on par or better that the 8800M GTX.
So apparently the 9800m GTX will be 20-25% faster. -

Anyone else really confused by the naming of Nvidia's cards once again? According to the site the 9700 GT has 32 shaders while the 9700 GTS has 48. So the GTS named card is the stronger. But then look at the 9800 GT which has 96 shaders compared to the 9800 GTS which has only 64, so the names don't seem to follow logic or common sense.
Edit: To me it also appears the 9300 G is more powerful than the 9300 GS which again is contradictory to the 8M series and to the naming of the 9500 series. They are either purposely trying to mislead people, these aren't final specs, or someone made a mistake, with the accusations of price fixing I could believe the first. -
great info thanks, was really annoyed they had 64 SPs up on their website for so long.
was wondering how it could have possibly been doing better than the 8800GTX. -
I guess when a reputable Sager rep (*cough* paladin44) tells us that the 8800M GTX is equal to the 9800M GT... we should listen.
-
Or we could flame him and accuse him of trying to rip us off like the greedy, evil capitalist he is... While drinking starbucks coffee and typing on an apple computer.
Or you could get a Sager. -
^ ^ I blame it on nvidia for misleading us on their OFFICIAL WEBSITE!
