Okay everyone, I was wondering how this card would run newer/older games (FEAR, PREY, DOOM 3, Oblivion) if coupled with:

    4GB ram
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4Gz processor

Might I even be able to play Crysis/Bioshock in low settings (I know this involves a degree of speculation...but still)

I know there are performance test results available online, put I'm not well versed enough to read enough into some of the numbers :(

How does it compare with the 8600 GS, GT and the 7600?

Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance for the help!

Nobody knows the card has only had a paper launch.

X2600 is going to be a mid-range card so I think it would handle most games at medium detail settings. It is the successor to the X1600. But as stated above, it is not out yet.

BTW you don't need 4GB of RAM, especially if you have a 32-bit OS.

I could take a guess... yes it will run new games, at decent settings my X1600 has done everything I have thrown at it(age of empires 3)//my most GPU intensive game @ full settings. I know that my card can do FEAR at medium(I've read somewhere) at 42FPS. The X2600 will be better than that.

if you take X1600 benchmarks add a little(lets say 10% or so) you might have a decent guess.

Note* this is my guess, I have not seen any benchmarks or anything to suggest a 10% increase in preformance (hoping for more); it's just a guess.

Yeah, the information is pretty sketchy on the HD 2600, let alone the 2600XT. From my experience with ATI I'd imagine the XT version has the same amount of onboard memory but maybe a slighter better cooling system+higher mem/clock speeds. Giving it maybe a 10-15% performance edge over the 2600....

Of course, I could be totally wrong??

All signs point to the HD 2600XT as being as powerful as, if not slightly more powerful, than the 8600M GT, and we're pretty sure the 8600M GT will be able to play Crysis at low-mid settings.

We'll have to wait and see. I heard that the HP HDX is coming out this July, I read it off someother website and it said it would come around late june and somewhere in July. The HP HDX will be equipped with this video card.

So it's just a matter of time.

It looks as though the Mobility HD 2600 XT should perform around the same as the 8600M GT, like FREN said. Its likely it will simply have higher clock speeds than the standard Mobility HD 2600.The HP notebook does have one of these graphics cards, but its large, and has a high resolution display. Until it makes its way into something much smaller, we won't be able to compare benchmarks.
