Follow the tale of a band of dwarves, who set out to carve a thriving fortress in some random cliffside, governed by a series of rulers (players) who each retire after a year (in game time) and pass the fortress on to the next unfortunate sucker. Hilarity ensues as the dwarves are plagued by homicidal elephants, madmen, and incompetence. Each ruler chronicles their part of the story in their own way (usually with many screenshots).

    About the game...
This has inspired me to try and figure out the games learning curve so I can play it myself! Oh, and did I mention it was created by a team of one person?

This is quite possible the most complex and fun game you can get for free. A lot of people are turned off by the (lack of) graphics, but I would urge anyone who gives it a try to work past that, as it is really really awesome once you start to get the hang of it.

I would advise liberal use of the wiki, and remember, losing is fun!

It's not really so much the lack of graphics as the learning curve. I tried it out last night and after an hour, I still don't have a grasp of the basic controls. I wound up playing with the wiki visible in a separate window. The linked story is pretty amusing though.
