The playable demo is out, and I'm going to assume the finished product will run very similar to this in the very near future release date. nVidia driver 391.01 supposedly added improved performance for FFXV, but game still seems to run very, very roughly for me on the 980M. Naturally, there is no SLI/CF support either, and trying to force AFR on 980M SLI yielded worse frames than the single 980M. On absolute maximum settings with everything turned on, frame rates would run in the 30-40 range on a single 980M, and in the 25-30 range with AFR forced. Kinda ridiculous that this game cannot run 1080P60 on a 980M. Not even a 1080TI could run FFXV maxed out at 4K60, they would get 40-48FPS. Hopefully CF/SLI support will be added down the road....

I wish they'd offer SLI support on their Final Fantasy games, but I highly doubt it at this point. With FF12: Zodiac Age, they didn't add it. With Secret of Mana, they didn't do online co-op. It feels like they'll just release it as it is.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this.

i dont understand exactly what you are saying, the benchmark gave me scores of fairly high performance ( https://imgur.com/a/rbtbU ), and stated that settings would need to be adjusted, you said running the game at "absolute maximum settings" yielded 30-40fps range, so it seems to be fairly accurate based on benchmarks, running the game at 1080p with some settings adjusted is exactly what the benchmark indicated for me.

Yes but this is the only game that has ever given my 980M so much trouble, and I don't know why...it's not super good looking.
-
first and foremost its a port right, they are never optimized as well, secondly well simply put our 980m's are getting dated now, and some of the "extra" stuff you have turned on really puts strain on the gpu, if its a game your looking forward to enjoy it at lower settings at 1080p final fantasy games are more about the story than the bling anyways.

I have gtx 965m, don't activate Nvidia Hairwork, don't even think of having nice looking grass.

Even the demo is 20 GB! The madness.

played for around an hour this morning and the game runs well on regular settings on the pc in my sig, great game so far, really enjoying the combat, and the game looks beautiful even on regular, i can only imagine what it looks like maxed out.

I'm experimenting with forcing SLI, hopefully I get some good results. Will post a profile if I get it working.

And I've come up with a profile that works, just turn off turfworks to minimize glitches. Nearly doubled my framerates on 980M SLI.

My laptop couldn't dream to run this game well, but I'm curious regardless so what the heck.

so iv'e put a fair amount of time into the game now, its really well made, optimized extremely well, really enjoying every aspect of the game at the moment especially to combat.....its just a very polished game...if your on the fence about it, i can recommend it.

I like the game, though I'm still pissed about the story changes. Versus XIII and Stella were far darker/cooler/intense than this story they have out for FFXV....
But as far as gameplay and graphics are concerned, it's quite beautiful. -
Have you played other games from the main series? People tend to gravitate towards VI, VII, IX, X/X-II, and XII. It would be great to have some sort of comparison as to how the whole game feels. Personally, the last FF game I played was FFXII. I am playing it ocassionaly on my laptop because of the PC port.
-
VIII, X, XII are my favorites. XIII and all its iterations were garbage. FFXV was a little refreshing but the story needs help.Vaeron likes this.

yes ive also played nearly every final fantasy game, i didn't play XIII-2 or lightning returns, i didn't enjoy FFXIII, the game has elements of all of the earlier games, and of course its all centered around your party and the comradery of the group as you grow and the story opens up,combat has two setting options active and wait, active is real time and is the only method i have tried.
it has a different feel than any other single player final fantasy game ive played, as its much more open world, and really encourages exploration and taking bounties for more challenging content within the game as the main form of "side quests"
as well as this the game has day and night cycles and night time is amazing but very risky, i was returning from a completed quest and got attacked by 4 level 25 reapers and then a level 47 fire golem showed up to join the party, i was level 18 at the time, it was kinda intense, I really enjoy this risk reward system of night time travel and taking on harder bounties.
where the game seems a little on the light side is the level up/magic system, it isn't really that complicated, it doesn't feel as deep as it could be, but i for one am more excited about the new direction the series is taken and hope they will continue to improve on the modelLast edited: Mar 9, 2018Atma likes this.
