Prey runs pretty damn good on the X3100, ill post my results later.....
-
Prey on an X3100? I would of it'd run crap. I hope your results are during proper action sequences.
-
Don't worry they will.
-
I get bugs with 2142 on my c2d e6750/ati hd2900xt desktop
If anybody had this game on day of release (i did) you will remember the almighty hash up it was, hence the next BF will be free.
on a side note my x3100 runs bf2 fine, although on the previous drivers it would crash after about 10 mins on bf 1942 (odd as it is an old game) -
Prey. Yes. Prey. 18 fps with Core 2 Duo E6600 and G965 with 14.31b beta drivers. I doubt it'll be too much faster now. It was with 800x600 medium.
Unreal optimizes his games too much to conclude properly. -
There are games that run better on Vista, and thanks to this site, I compiled a small list: www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60232
Mind you, this is for the X3000, but since they are basically the same architecture, it shouldn't be too much different
-Call of Duty 4: Gives problem in XP, has to run on Safe Mode. Vista also gets better fps
-Test Drive Unlimited: Gets slightly better fps in Vista??
-World in Conflict: Does not run on XP
-ET: Quake Wars: Vista 15.7.3 drivers allow ET: Quake Wars to run, XP still does not run
-NFS ProStreet: Says less errors and better fps in Vista
-Gears of War: Gives errors in XP -
i got it so far running at 20-40 FPS @ 1024x768 with a little tweaking in the config.
Huh? don't no if i understand that correctly..... but theres nothing wrong with tweaking a game to make it run better???? -
StarScream4Ever Notebook Consultant
It would be just nice to run the games for those who cannot or pertain the little knowledge of 'tweaking'. So its best to put on pics from games that are not tweak for the rest of the crowds who are looking at this thread for advice.
-
StarScream4Ever Notebook Consultant
IntelUser could you test some of the game that said it run fine on X3000 on the X3100?
-
yeah but some games ur gunna have to tweak to get it to run good, like Cod4 & i uploaded my Config file for everyone to use.
-
Maybe you could be nice and upload more tweaks and config files for other games?
-
ive uploaded alot of tweaks for different games, but what other games you want?
-
I need some help with Battlefield 2. I have the same exact specs as you except I'm running Vista 32bit with 2.5 RAM. Do you have any hardcore tweaks for it? I've done everything at TweakGuides and I can't get decent frames above 20 consistently.
TehNoob, your refresh rate must be 60Hz to run BF2 (it should be set as so in your display properties as well as the config file from BF2 found in the TweakGuide). In case you haven't, get the latest video drivers. -
?? I don't get what you are asking here sorry
.
-
could you upload the tweaks for doom 3??
-
Thanks for trying to help but unfortunately the X61 can only be set at 50Hz
I wonder if there's a way to trick bf2 into thinking it's running at 60Hz (I've tried plugging in my laptop into a monitor and running bf2, then unplugging the monitor and running bf2 back onto the laptop screen)
Oh and unreal, can you please upload configs for CoD2, source games and Company of Heroes? -
is there any reason you cant just google the configs??
-
google: highfps + config + game
really, it's not that hard. Unreal does the same.. just look at "his" config.
(you can also tell it because he doesn't really know whats in his config, like r_mmx 0 and r_drawviewmodel 0) -
it seems I'm having a problem with the stand-by mode. After several hours of standby (S3, STR), I can't boot it up again (fan goes on, screen stays black).
Anyone got the same problems with 14.32.3 drivers? Because I'm not sure if it's just windows fcking around with me, or the drivers. -
Hi! I will buy a Lenovo 3000 N200 notebook with X3100 grapihcs card. Can I play with Call of Duty 2 Multiplayer this graphics card?
-
yes, but in direct x 7.0 mode (with texture set as Extra)
-
Hey guys so I'm by getting by playing BF2 with only 15 frames. Is that reasonable for a:
T2310 Dual Core
2.5 GB RAM
Vista Home
Latest Jan 08 Drivers
I've done the Windows Vista tweaks in the other sub-forum as well as Tweakguide.com for BF2.
Is there anything else I can do...maybe overclock the GPU? or maybe alter something in BIOs? or allocating more virtual memory or something? -
Well, the game isn't expected to run good on the X3100... at least with the current drivers. And there is no hope of overclocking the X3100, as it is an IGP with fixed, low clocks.
-
Others have reported much higher frame rates in BF2 (30fps). Perhaps they were running in a very low resolution, or were not taking into account the 'dynamics' of the game.
-
I saw a video Intel made and the player is getting at least 25 frames:
http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/08/20/intel_updates_gma_driver/
Am I to believe the only difference between my setup and theirs is they're probably running a better processor than my Dual Core T2310 (1.46GHz)?
I'm running the lowest 800x600 with all video and audio options either at the minimum or off and I'm only getting 15 frames. -
First off, BF2 was a terribly coded game. Even for it's time. It recommended the 6800 series to max out, but with my 6800Ultra I could get never completely max it. Secondly, the X3100 DOES NOT respond well to dynamic gameplay, as I have seen. I have seen this game played on many laptops with IGP's, 1 being a laptop in Best Buy with the X3100, and it is very choppy. Anytime something big happeneds it tends to just slow down. The game is not very scalable, and the X3100 just has a hard time with higher end effects, even for a 4 year old game. Sorry guys... but this card was specifically not made for gaming. Maybe the occasional RTS or lower end FPS... but BF2 still to this day can make machine cry a little.
-
Did you noticed in that video when the explosion went off near the 25 second mark, the screen stuttered badly? Also, there is hardly anything going on. I dont see players running around frantically shooting things. No FRAPS indicator either for the BF2 demo either.
-
StarScream4Ever Notebook Consultant
No there's a FRAPS indicator on the top right of the screen. Who ever posted the video didn't did a good job in video quality. Also its obvious that the game is being played on a single-player, 16-ppl map, with AI controlled bots. I didn't notice the screen stuttering, its just the effect of motion-blur from the near-by explosion.
-
The fact is, the X3100 will still struggle to play intensive games like this. It's low clocks, mixed with it's absolutely no dedicated RAM makes it kind of hard to virtually produce power. It is cool to see some of the things this card has accomplished... but still with either Intel would boost performance with drivers, or we see a powerfully balanced IGP on the market.
-
Hi, I have the exact same specs on my ASUS A8LE laptop however, i only have 2 gigs of ram. I can play BF2 at 25-35 FPS on 1024x768 all low.
Here's the vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwiArBTs-6U -
i just played through system shock 2, fallout2 and deus ex again on the x3100, every time i go back to them i realize how modern games pale in comparison with them; to everyone frustrated with low fps in bf2 and others may i suggest going back and replaying these classics, unmatched before or since by anything else ive seen; i put 40 hours into deus ex, and it was like my 10th time replaying the game...thats just insane...still most fun ive had in an fps
cheers -
What in the world. Maybe my setup just sucks?
The real question, is what are your frames online in a 30 player server?
I have Deus Ex. I think I beat it but I don't even remember how the game ends. DE is definitely one of the longest RPG style FPS I've ever played. I remember downloading the demo for the 2nd one but it wasn't as interesting. -
i find out that doom 3 will run better in software mode on xp!!^^
-
Deus Ex has 3 endings, Illuminati, Dark Age and integration with Helios.
-
i am usnig sony vaio with the same driver on vista home pre.
I have 2GB with core 2 duo T7500.
I want to check whether I can play UT3 on it???? -
Nope, ive tweaked the crap out of UT3 & was only able to get about 15 FPS on the X3100.
-
And -15fps in firefights.
-
With about 10 Bots yeah 15 FPS, but not with 32 Bots, haha just forget about it, like 5 FPS.
-
10 bots on screen at once? yeah right.
-
StarScream4Ever Notebook Consultant
UnReaL could you posted up some pics please to assure us that its possible for 10 bots to be in the 15 FPS range.
-
Hey I just jumped into the laptop world, and found a lot of good info here so I decided to sign up!
I'm using a compaq c700 1.6 dual core 1gb ram
Just wanted to add my trials with the x3100
My laptop came with Vista, but I did the downgrade to XP and it runs a whole lot better. Never tried games on Vista, I just don't have the RAM
I have installed a few games so far, i'll tell you how they work or not.
hl2 +ep1 : Worked amazing on vanilla half life 2 running through StEAM bUSTer when I first installed. I don't know how many frames but it ran fast w/ all details turned up on 1024 which is the highest it will ever go for me it seems. Anyway it was cool, at first. Now it runs pretty good until it hangs and repeats sounds over and over, pretty common problem in general. I really believe it's a driver issue. I might make a separate post about it.
But it seems the hardware is more than capable!
ut2004: Runs absolutely awesome. Full details and resolution is a piece of cake on any indoor map, outdoor runs real good @ 1024 res and high detail, low shadows helps. This has always run slow in outdoor scenes even in my desktop though. Real happy here, it shows our chip can deliver, although it's kinda old game.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory: This seems to run good a little choppy when the waves are rolling in on 1st level. Surprised it will even run, my desktop wont even run it. It seems like 15-18 fps, but very steady which helps. Nice!
Call of Duty 2: Won't run, I get the directx error
Battlefield 2: This runs but it's real slow on low settings, seems like it's running software if that's even possible. I want to figure it out because ive run it on much worse hardware!
Quake 3: Hey I still enjoy playing this! Runs perfect, no surprise but crashes if I try 1280 resolution, thought I'd mention it. Seems we need some driver help!!!
There is a huge installed base for this card with many pc and mac models, so Intel hopefully iron out some kinks, stability and constant frame rates are what I want...
Anyway sorry for the novel....
I just bought this for music production and general computing, but it would be nice to have stable support for modest games, I don't expect to play Crysis or anything though!
-
hai guys
I'm hoping to get myself a new laptop at some point this year, and rather than spend the extra £££s on a dedicated Nvidia/ATI solution, I was thinking I might go the X3100 route. My current laptop has an ATI X1300 which I got for some light gaming use, but since getting my Xbox 360 I find myself only ever playing RTS or economic/management type games, so my gaming is considerably lighter than I had anticipated.
How is driver support for the X3100s, have Intel got around to releaseing DX10 drivers yet? Do a lot of games fail to run on an X3100 as they did on the GMA 945/950? Can you select how much shared memory the GPU has access to?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
-
Listen to what i said, i didn't say 10 Bots on the screens at once..... I said with about 10 bots meaning in the Game, it doesn't mean all ten are in my face shooting at me. Though thats like impossible unless you have the Flag or somethin.
-
5+ bots on the screen at once is not uncommon. I bet the FPS drops to 5 fps when there is only a few bots on the screen shooting. Bottom line, its NOT PLAYABLE. Part of Playing a game like UT3 is SHOOTING A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ON THE SCREEN. If people were reviewing this game on the basis of only being able to shoot one person at a time, it would be getting horrible reviews.
-
Has anyone got a link for the gma965 and x3100 latest drivers? I cant find them anywhere
-
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=2800&lang=eng
Choose the OS and you're good to go. -
economic/management type games.. yeah right.
Even Settlers 5 bluescreens.
I won't count on the X3100 if you really want to game smth. Drivers are NOT DX10 ready yet (which doesn't matter, really, DX10 performance sucks on all graphic cards - imagine on the slow X3100! rofl)
Get the AMD/ATI X1300.. driver support is MUCH better on that side. -
Thanks mate.
I am getting a little problem when dragging windows, it is not smooth and stutters i dont know what it is? -
Forget Intel graphics. The new ATI IGP is really really fast. With Phenom system(which has HT3.0 and benefits the IGP), its faster than the Geforce 8400GS. Intel is 2-3 generations behind, and who knows how much with driver support. The RS780 is 3-4x faster. They will also introduce RS780D, which will be even faster. You just lose hope in Intel when they are this far behind
.
1GHz overclock from default 500MHz with passively cooled heatsink!! This is gonna enable AMD to take over the low end market. I think they are just trying to replace entire low-end discrete graphics with the IGP.
