While this thread is open this might be a good place to put it since X3100 users are probably looking here anyway: A friend of mine has a Compaq with an X3100, and is having some issues with Final Fantasy XI. Basically all the textures on character models look plain and constantly flicker around. The games playable and runs fine... but the textures on the characters are all really messed up. Anyone with experience playing it on an X3100 that can offer some advice or a solution, it'd be a great help.

Here yall go, sorry it took so long:
-
Thanks for the video. It seems pretty choppy in most of the maps, minus the zombie mod one. By the way, you can show the framerate using the in-game fps by pressing the ~ button and typing "/cg_drawfps 1" without the quotes.
-
Choppy? what do u mean by that?
Yeah but if i do that, you probably won't be able to read the FPS very well cuz it will be very small. -
looks great to me, am suprised! Excellent and totally playable
-
Choppy on the normal levels, and other players are lagging across your screen a lot (kneel slide lol). Looks better than I though though. Screen tearing wasn't that bad either. I'd say it's the same amount of screen tearing as my friend gets on his 8400m GS. Zombie level though performed considerably well. Every other level though (normal level) will put you at a considerable disadvantage.
-
Yes......Thank you & thats the hole point of the video, "Its Very Playable" And also that the fact is that the X3100 isn't really that bad, yeah its an Integrated card, but you have to admit its got some power.
-
Thanks fo the feed, The laggin i think has to do with FRAPS, cuz it doesn't do it nearly as much when im not using FRAPS, plus dont forget when recording the Framerate drops about 10 FPS which is a noticeable difference. But the hole point is its playable.
-
Care to share your game config? I'd like to play the game a bit on my laptop while I'm away from my desktop.
-
It was under the "About This Video" on the Youtube link.
-
I don't understand how you guys can be impressed with that video. I cannot see any frame rate counter, but it looks extremely choppy to me. the fps is probably dipping below 5 when it stutters.
*edit* what resolution are you playing with? -
Impressed that this X3100 could even play it like that. I was expecting total stuttering and unplayability...
-
The only thing that's "dumb" is a person who fails at simple word comprehension.
That being the case, what you missed was that I was saying that a laptop that costs $3,000 and that only has a medium duty GPU isn't worth the $$.
And that there are some (and only a few) laptops that have removable GPU's. But those laptops are grossly overpriced, so they're a waste of $$ too.
If you need more clarification in understanding English bloke-ster, just let me know ...
You got part of your sentence correct.
More precisely, the part where you said "I don't think".
Yup.
Because in this world, there are teachers ... and there are those who are taught.
And we are still trying to teach people like you.
Questions? -
Nice! The x3100 works!
Choppiness is non-existant.
Good job Unreal! -
what do u people mean buy choppy? Graphic wise choppy? thats cuz its at 800x600 dude or u mean like Skippy choppy when lets say moving? But see thats the problem with some of u people on here, you expect too much out of the card, Its a Integrated Card not a dedicated card & the hole point of the video is that it "Runs" And it is in fact playable, And of course if u have a high end PC & are used to high FPS of course ur gunna think the FPS im gettin is crap, But if you would of read the info about the video you would know why my FPS was lower than it should be.
What i said in the info:
If you have a X3100 and Cod 4 or really any game go into the game & start recording with FRAPS. I garentee you will get the same issues i had. That choppy thing u guys talking about??? or the laggin, Thats all FRAPS, remember your recording a video, what u think its not goin to slow down? come on.......Now if i had a Camera id be glad to show u how smooth it is when not using FRAPS, but i don't have one so o well.
Thanks to everyone on here that actually enjoyed the video. -

hmm i must say not bad. For X3100 and COD4, its quite decent on the performance though a bit choppy. Heh, at least its shows that the X3100 still has some potential.
-
WE expect too much? you are the one that has been posting throughout these forums that it can play almost any game at 60 fps with your SUPER configs.
Note: firefighterfrank has very few post. This is not the first time that Unreal has registered a new user and supported himself.
How can you ask: "what do you mean by choppy?" What do you think we have been talking about?!
stop calling everyone "dude." -
Most games will not be affected by the FPS counter in FRAPS. There are some reports for games like BF2 that it affects performance. but I have tested it with dozens of games, compared it to in-game counters, and there was no difference.

Actually Noxxle99 and I have been posting thread regarding the X3100 since it started and we've been hitting the thing pretty well on accurate, and there's time when we are wrong with our post but we still manage to solidify the X3100 position as a weak card but has some potential for those with tight budget but want a card for "light" gaming.
Then you came along and, might I say, kinda derail the thread with questionable posts and images. And honestly, the video is also questionable. Yes I know that it meant that the X3100 is capable of playing COD4, but since u did not post a FPS counter its hard to describe whether or not the accuracy of the movement in the video, even thought its clear that the gameplay was (ew...) .
Another thing, when Chaz posted the images on that thread most of us were expecting crappy image out of HL2, but instead most of us were quite surprise at his findings. Also unlike you, he imputed data and info when he didn't manage to take any screen shots.
And another thing, I am a very nice person, but when a newcomer decides to show up and present evidences and infos that are questionable, i get to be a real hard***. Not to say that I hate u, just that your findings and evidences are just too debatable.
PS. I do have a life. -
Ok i understand, but.......Did you not see where i said that the FPS was not showing when playbacking the video? i told everyone that, so that really gives no reason for Noxxle to complain about that, he knew that.
And as i said to Noxxle.....ima say to everyone else, if you can find me another good video recorder ill be glad to record another video fo yall & ill just use FRAPS for the Framerate.
Edit: ewww? -
I think (yet again) we've seen enough with the X3100 threads. Too much misinformation, and too much arguing.
Thread closed, and we will close any future X3100 threads as soon as arguing starts or clearly false information is posted. Okay?
