Hi there!
I was just wondering if any of us could more or less predict when this beast will come to the market, and be fully comercialised (you know, not just 1 laptop with it, and more or less at the actual price of the x1600, 7600 )
i know its impossible to say exactly, but, why not make a guess?
-
It's already out on the Asus C90
http://www.milestonepc.com/states/product_info.php?cPath=87_280&products_id=1489
I'd say give it until July or August until we start seeing them in other notebooks such as Compal and non-C Asus models. -
hmm, interesting... I didn't think it would already be out.
-
how badly do i wanna see a C90 review -.-
-
Me too...I might buy one if the fans aren't louder than the M570U's on max
-
Oh, the barebone costs ~$1050 throw in a E6700 and HDD and Ram and it'll cost $1600 for a monster.
-
I read in this forum somewhere that the Asus refresh of the G1 and A8 with new directx10 is expected to come in June/July/August.
I dont think the prices will be much higher then the current ones. Maybe if they include Robson and hybrid harddisks the prices would be higher. How much was the G1 going for at release? -
$1800,it was a Christmas gift for many of the folks...
-
The g1 is about to go to 2200$
It is one of the few cases where something gets more expensive.
When the santa rosa version comes out it wont be higher than the version thats about to come out with the t7600 and whatever else.
you know the whole point of the g1 is the 7700 go. If it were not for the 7700 go the g1 wouldnt be any more desirable than the a dozen other machines only it would be heavier.
If the next g1 comes out and its one of 12 machines with 8600 go it will not sell. -
Personally i have about £2000 to spend on a new
multimedia notebook, i still dont know which one
to get yet but until a couple of days ago it was
between the sony vaio ar31s and toshiba qosmio g30-204
which both have a 256mb nvidia geforce go 7600gt
graphics card which i believe is a good card but is
getting on a bit.
However a couple of days ago i learned that
sometime in june toshiba plan on releasing
there new qosmio model the g40 which has a
512mb nvidia 8600 gt graphic card as well as a few
other upgrades for about the same price as the older models. -
i voted june-july
-
how would the 8600 performance comapared to the actual laptop graphics cards?
i see that, after what you say, a laptop with 8600 and normal specs wont reach te $1600 barrier from june-july!?
that would be great -

The 8600 scores around 6000 3dmark05 points and around 3800 3dmark06 points. That is with an T7500 (2.2 GHz) 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2, 7200 rpm hard drive... Source: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1203072/17
So it ain't bad, especially because it is running on Vista and has probably Beta drivers. So I think you can get around 4000 3dmark06 points with a nice configuration and good drivers. -
So basically the 8600 benchmarks about twice as powerfully in 3DMark06 as the 7600 ...
The 8600GTS also outbenchmarks the 7900GS on desktops, but when it comes to actual gaming FPS, the 8600GTS lags behind. It might be the case with the mobile version as well. -
OMG!! is it based on any nuclear-energy device??
It seems impossible that a laptop with that beast can reach 1200$ (counting the processor and RAM, so not just the barebone) before Septebmer
VERIFIED: miracles are a fact. -
What part of it
-
Laptops with the 8600 won't be THAT expensive. Maybe $100 or $200 more than their DX9 counterparts.
-
but before September? sems too ideallistic. -
No, it doesn't.
Asus and Lenovo are DEFINITELY offering DX10 support for their Santa Rosa refreshes. The new Thinkpad T61's use the Nvidia Quadro NVS140M, which is a DX10 card (no NVS140M exists now, only the NVS110M and NVS120M). The new Thinkpad will be comparable in price to current T60's. Asus is refreshing the G1 and A8J series very quickly. They will not jump in price by more than $100.
Lenovo will start offering the T61's in May, with the option of upgrading to Nvidia DX10 cards by June. Asus' roadmap includes integrating the Geforce Go 8400 into their F3J lineup, and the Geforce Go 8600GT into the G1 and the A8Js. Those refreshes will be done by mid-June, according to resellers on the Asus forums. -
there going to be an expected price rise in the initial months of release as everyone rushes to get their hands on one of these beasts
it is a simple case of over demand
where there is not enough supply for huge demand -
-
ok look.
here is a laptop vased on the HEL-80:
IT COSTS 1300, AND IT IS NOT A JOKE.
Core 2 Duo T7200, 2Ghz
4096 Mb RAM
160MB HD 5400rmp SATA
15,4"
256MB NVidia Geforce Go 7600
well, thats pretty cheap, i believe. -
F3JP on newegg for $1250 and that has a x1700.
-
so cheap? i mean for an f3jp that IS quite cheap they run around 1800's if im not mistaken
-
the big problem is that im spanish, and aint international shipping.
I wish i was American -
-
yes, its a special promotion. I think that the guys who sell this laptop (they say its the first 4GB lappy to arrive to spain) will be te first ones to get the 8600 on their systems
-
-
Zepto will announce their 8600go laptops on tuesday
-
The Samsung R70 is priced as 1149€ as the Studen version. It has a go8600. Normaly the normal price is 10% higher so about 1300€.
here is a link. http://www.studentbook.de/r70-serie.html
it says available starting May 10th. -
This is good news for many people.
Seems that the GeForce Go 8000 series are appearing sooner than I have thought. -
A little sidetrack, but apparently it seems like the Go 8400 will have 128 MB dedicated VRAM, but it'll have support for up to 768 MB of shared video memory for 896 MB total.
-
what would you need so much shared memory for?
-
No clue. Possibly an Nvidia marketing gimmick, but I think it's more likely that their Geforce 8 architecture/Microsoft's architecture in Vista can take advantage of more shared memory. The 8600 has 256 MB dedicated, with shared up to 1024 MB, I believe.
-
the extra dedicated memory could be alloted for gaming purposes or so
or preplanning improvements in planning and to improve performance and looks of the games by providing more bandwith
then again it could also be a gimmick to attract customers.....
at this point nothing is certain
but im sure time will tell -
Read that Asus G1 and G2 are to be released around May 21 in Italy.
The will have the GF 8600 card... -

The 8800 will not be out until Q3 2007, last report I heard.
This is due to a few reasons. One of them is that they run hot. The 8800gtx in my desktop often idles around 60-70c! -
yup
nicely put gator
though it would be able to use it im sure it would end up eating quite a large chunk of your memory and isnt that great of a big deal i would rather go for the 8600M ir the 8600GT though the heat output f its mobility i want id stick to the intel integrated chipsets the X3100 to be exact -
Well, I think the R600 mobile GPUs will consume much less.Since AFAIK they all will be 65nm.
-
From what i found in this earlier days of santa rosa, most laptops are equip with 8600 GS, i wonder if nvidia totally replaced the Go thing already...
-
-
From what i read on Nvidia's forums, it looks like they are getting rid of the "Go" and using an "M" on the moblity cards. i.e. 8600M GS , 8600M GT etc.

GT models are indicated with a "-GT".
Ex: 8600M, 8600M-GT -
Does anyone know of official information concerning when Nvidia is going to a 65nm process? Also, does anyone know if the initial R600 cards will be 65nm (e.g., the x2600 on the HP HDX)?
-
Yes they will be.. except for the HD2900, the others will be 65nm.
-
All the ATI mobile cards with the exception of the 2300 will be 65nm.
