Ok everyone, this post is dedicated to all those who are traveling and may not have network/WIFI connectivity while in the airports or on the go...

What are some of the best PC games that have BOTS to provide an offline multiplayer experience? Here is my list that comes to mind...

    1. CSS (make sure it is completely up to date and set steam to offline)
    2. UT3

    Please keep the games coming.

    Thanks,

    StevenX

TBH, MP bots in most games suck. Your better off playing a single player campaign or story mode.

Any of the Unreal Tournament games (UT'99, UT2k4, UT3) will work.

Battlefield 2 and 2142's single player modes are essentially multiplayer with bots as well.

And Left 4 Dead's single player campaign is the same as co-op campaign, but with bots. No Versus or other modes, though.

Battlefield is single and multi. Just single bots suck.

Yea the bots in BF are pretty dumb. They do repetitive motions and won't always react to being shot. Unless you count standing there soaking up bullets as a reaction, in which case I think your definition of reaction needs some fine-tuning.

The BF2 Allied Intent eXtented (AIX) mod is pretty fun for single play. Adds native bot support for more than 16 players, while adding quite a few mod community maps in many sizes and vehicles to boot. Highly recommended for lots of dumb fun offline. You can run as many bots as your CPU can handle which is fun for experimentation. Be it a reminder that the BF2 engine is one core only, the ability to smoothly run 80 bots on my 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo in my lappy is pretty impressive. Yes, the bots are dumb as hell, but like I said it's just plain fun.

Another nod to Section 8...bots are fairly competent...

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars...bots are so-so...

Great thread.. I love bots, especially on a new game. They help me get up to speed a bit before I sign on and play MP. That way when I get my butt kicked, it's not as bad as it could've been! :)

I suck at FPS in general, so any way I can practice without demonstrating how bad I am to real people is helpful.

I almost completely forgot, there is a CoD4 bot mod called PeZBOT that's pretty fun to use. When you use this mod, it creates a seperate persistence character file from your online one, so you can rank up and gain more stuff within the Bot mod itself. Also bots will carry random weapons and items from all experience levels, so it's pretty close to actual human online players in terms of weapon variety. Only problem is the bots can be either too good or too stupid, in that robotic kind of way and at the beginning of the level from the spawn points, the some bots will follow the exact same path until they fan out a bit when they encounter enemy bots. Good to mention is that you can run as many bots as your system can handle. Be it noted these bots are pretty CPU heavy, especially considering all the other entities the computer has to handle like physics enabled objects around the level. I was running about 31 bots + me on my laptop IIRC (Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26 GHz) so that should give you an idea of how many you could run comfortably. It's a good mod, give it a try.

I am going to the pez... just d-loaded it. Here is what I have so far...
section 8 (got it for 12.49) at Target
    Cod4 (had for a while)
    CSS (had for a while)
BF 2142 (picked up ultimate edition at BB last night)

Thanks again so much. I love playing MW2 (360) but I need some more honing offline. I am lvl 70 in game and that is fine but too often I finish mid pack. I have my good games and bad ones but I need to increase my Kung-Fu. (i am not a fan of camping and sniping)

Thanks again to everyone... Keep the suggestions coming! Best Wishes,

    StevenX

Well if it helps you, for me with CoD4, I am very aggressive. Being aggressive takes reactionary time, and a quick reloading weapon that doesn't leave you stranded at a terrible time. I used to be very into using the heavy machine guns up until I got better submachine guns like the Mini-Uzi and P90, but I've been using assault rifles in place of it now. I do die alot, but if my kills to deaths ratio is 1:1 or better, I'm happy, especially considering my score and kills will be amongst the highest in the game typically :)

My two current favorite load outs:

    Assault
M4 Carbine w/ Red Dot sight
    USP .45 unsilenced sidearm
    Stun Grenades
    Perk 1: RPG-7 x 2
    Perk 2: Juggernaut
    Perk 3: Steady Aim

    Ninja
    P90 w/ Red Dot Sight
    Desert Eagle Sidearm
    Stun Grenades
    Perk 1: Bandolier
    Perk 2: Stopping Power
    Perk 3: Extreme Conditioning

yea the CSS bots always were like that. on easier difficulties they would stare at you for like 3 seconds before even firing shot, even if you were point blank. on harder difficulties, however, i swear that some of them were using wallhacks

and they are pretty good at being random with their approaches to the fanning out over the levels, but they do occasionally do the whole "stare-at-a-wall-and-try-to-jump-onto-nothing" bit
