So I just read the PC Gamer article on the new Star Wars MMO, The Old republic. I must say I am thoroughly excited for this game. It already sound like it is going to be way better than Galaxies, and has an insane amount of content. Plus it's coming from Bioware. Who else is excited for it?

Yeah I'm pretty pumped for it; the KOTOR series are some of my favorite Star Wars games. I always speculated whether or not a KOTOR III would ever be released, but an MMO would be just as entertaining in my opinion.

Indeed ... I was hoping for KOTOR 3 as well that would tie in to the first two parts.

    Oh well ...
I'm not exactly into MMORPG's ... I prefer a single player campaign which is long and has an ending.
Then again, it would be interesting to see what kind of a storyline would be included in The Old Republic, and if one would be over, would a new one take place?

If it's an MMO, what'll be the monthly fee of it? Assuming there is one of course >.>

Probably of the same order as the monthly fees for other MMOs. They've said that it will focus more on stories than other such games and to some extent you'll be able to play alone if you want. I will wait to see how much this is the case because I went on their forums to check what kind of audience this thing is drawing and I was... underwhelmed.

The monthly fees are one of the main reasons I don't like MMORPG's.
But also, I never felt them to be interesting enough.
For example I saw WoW ... and I find it a bit boring.

I prefer a single player storyline which is long enough to keep you occupied for days.

Although the heavier emphasys on story in this particular MMORPG might be worth a look.
Given the fact it's from Bioware ...

I'm just hoping they make ranged weapons a viable play style for Jedi, like in KOTOR 2. My KOTOR 2 character fights with a combination of force powers, and dual blaster pistols. With some sneak attack dice for good measure.

As a huge fan of KOTOR/KOTOR2, I'm excited to see what this game is like. I am not sure if I am going to buy it since I don't like WoW or other MMOs. If there's a free trial I will definitely try that out though, and if I like it I'll buy it. I have no problem with a monthly fee either.

I really hope they bring the social and economy aspects of SWG to this game. PLayers making sweet weapons for others as well has houses, furniture, etc made that game so great. Brigning this to the old republic could make the game great and easily better than wow.

They are making an MMO, but from what I here it's not going to be the run of the mill WoW-esque MMO.

When I heard about this on X-Play, I got very excited because back when I was about 10-12 years old, my brothers and I got hooked on SW after they released remakes of the first trilogy; we had action figures lined up in specific scenes around the house, we had all VHS/DVDs of the movies, etc.

I got into MMOs pretty late, so I didnt get a chance to try SWG, but I'm just hoping this will actually live up to the hype. I mean, Warhammer Online went through a big hype and most of the people I know and the people they know who tried it out, stopped playing after the 1st month.

Same here. Truth be told I've had my heart set on a true KOTOR3 for a long time now. But if I have to miss it I hope the storyline for this one plays out over a ten year span or something, in between KOTOR 2 and 3...

    Maybe in 5 years...on the 720 and PS4?

This one is set hundreds of years after KOTOR BTW.
