Hello everyone and hope you are ready for this holiday season.
First of all, wanted to thank everyone for another wonderful year at NBR. It has become my primary online social geek club, as sad as that sounds. I have gone through a lot the last few years, but am happy to have spent quite a bit of it reading some helpful and humorous threads here (and some trollish ones too,).
Unfortunately this year I won't have the vast number of games to give away that I did last year. In large part because Steam didn't offer their awesome "buy one get twelve free" kind of sales. Plus I got my own family to spoil this year, which doesn't leave much extra. I didn't see a whole heck of a lot out there as far as great game sales either. So to do something different, I will be offering a few newer and high quality games. I prefer to see more winners, but alas, just doesn't look possible this year. I figure fewer, but higher quality games would be welcome.
Forge has already got the jump on me, but my lawyers and dogs are hot on his trail.![]()
So without further adieu, here we go!
This will be a multi-part giveaway. For the first part I have two digital copies of "The Witcher 2" to give away. It also comes with the original Witcher game. These copies were acquired through GOG.com
Rules are simple:
(1) To enter, just fill out your NBR user name in the google form found here:
Multiple entries ARE NOT ALLOWED.
(You can view entries here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...GcyV3FteDhYb1Y5TWxRMTd2ZEJHZ2c&hl=en_US#gid=0 )
(2) Entrants MUST have been a member of NBR in November 2011 or earlier, and have at least 10 quality posts. I do this to reward members of NBR and prevent spam entries.
(3) Entrants must be of legal age to own this game and/or have proper permission. It's rated "M" for mature.
(4) Entrants must be able to create or already own an account at GOG.com. The game will only activate through their service. Oh, and make sure you have a PC that can run it. The system requirements are here at lower right side).
(5) Contest ends Sunday Dec 11 at 11:59pm (midnight) Eastern Time. Any entries after that time will be discarded.
(6) Two winners will be chosen randomly from the list of entries sometime on Dec 12. Once all entries are made I will randomize the names on the list. Then I will pull two random numbers and will choose the winners based on your random placement in that list. Winners will be PM'd their serial key as soon as they are determined.
(7) Winners must claim their prize within 48 hours or I will pull another random number and offer it to that person.
(8) Last but not least, share a comment in this thread about a favorite gaming moment you've had. Whether in-game moment, game you got that you were pleasantly surprised with, whatever.
GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!
P.S. If you already have Witcher 2, no worries, I have a couple other parts to this giveaway that at least one should satisfy anyone.

Done! Thanks ^_^
Yeah i've read the rule #8, but THIS is one of those moments you're talking about, and I was playing
Btw actually I'm playing Skyrim, BF3, Anno 2070, Batman, and I'm worried to finish them all before Christmas
I honestly can't remember another period in the past 2-3 years where so many AAA titles were released SIMULTANEOUSLY. Furthermore NOW I work and I can buy all of them @ release -
Awww man, guys read rule number 8.
-
Why, this is amazing!
Oh, Rule #8.
Well, I remember playing Red Alert 2 a while ago. It was probably the first RTS I've ever played. I just remember that the graphics were so, well, COOL. Even though they are really bad by today's standard, I still prefer them to probably any other RTS game's graphics. The perfect mix of realism and quirky pixelness. Massing GIs and deploying them was so fun. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
For Rule #8: Killing the end boss with the laser gun in Deus Ex: HR. So satisfying!
-
back before I was a "PC" gamer i used to play a lot of bfbc2 on the xbox and one day while playing with 7 other friends i decided to switch teams and claim all of their dogtags. it was so epic i got that achevement for getting your friends dog tags and they were all so pissed.
-
My favorite gaming moment is probably with the N64. It was the first system that I was able to buy with my own money and as I kid, I was proud of that. I enjoyed many games on that system, from Goldeneye to the Zelda games.
Thanks for the giveaway, it's a really nice thing of you to do. -
Favorite gaming moment:
Playing Modern Warfare 2 with friends, we went 7500-2200, and the game winner was my friend using a throwing knife to set off a C4 and get a triple kill. One guy was so mad on the other team, and was swearing so profusely, we got him banned. Rockkkked.

As per rule No 8: I'm happy that i got Assassin's Creed Revelations.
I don't really want to say which is my favorite part as it might ruin the fun for those who haven't played it yet. -
Moment in video games:
I was playing Red Orchestra 2 conquest mode on the Soviet side, the Germans have taken much of the map, as a last ditch effort, I climbed up to a flanking grain tower with 2 other conscript riflemen, and overlooking the central exposed area of the map, we mowed down clueless charging Germans one by one.
This continued until an enemy sharpshooter (sniper) spotted us on another roof, and sniped a comrade beside me in the gut; the comrade bled to death crying and praying to his family. We could not spot the sharpshooter, and could not move because he would easily take us down.
At last, the second comrade stood up heroically as a distraction, the sharpshooter headshotted him, but I was able to spot the muzzle flash and was able to take him down.
I don't play RO2 any more because it's quite emotionally draining. -
Playing "Phantom Mode" in StarCraft 2 in a LAN party with my friends. Trying to hide yourself as the phantom was like using your poker face in a game of Poker.
-
i have fond memories of Quake 3 when we created our own lan in the dorm with hardware someone 'found' in the dumpster back in good ole Y2K
-
Having got into the Tribes Ascend beta it brings back fond memorys of Tribes 2, bomber runs with heavys on the back, killing every member of a team on a single run
-
I had a really good story for skyrim but then I took an arrow to the knee :/
sorry could not help it... -
My favorite gaming moments are from bf2 and bfbc2 (xbox 360). Between the 2 games I had gotten 3 helicopter pilot headshots. There is nothing more rewarding than getting a headshot on a moving target at 100+ yards and then have the helicopter smash into the ground with even more kills. Unfortunately this has evaded me in bf3, but I will get one eventually.
-
I was in a WoW Battleground and this Shaman kept doing the /spit emote every time he saw me (he was mad that I captured stables), so I attacked and 1-shot him ....felt incredibly satisfied knowing that he was most likely screaming/swearing at his computer screen lol
-
my favourite thing to do in a helo is land on top of the enemy, its so funny when you see the body go flying!
-
Gotta be when playing minecraft and thinking up some imagantive bulding and then attempting to build it only to end up with a bulding then barely resembles what you first thought of ...but its still mycreation XD

First of all, thanks for a chance to get this game, your generosity is appreciated!
Anyways, my favorite moment in gaming was the other day. My friends and I were all playing League of Legends in the lounge and my friend Chris' computer had frozen. It was making the repeated noise of one of the champion's abilities and he was cussing furiously. Then for some reason, out of the blue, his champion used its ultimate ability and killed an enemy, while he was still frozen. We won the match and it was because his computer sucks, haha. It was also funny when my friend stole the other team's Baron buff, and still lost xD.

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Google Docs are blocked in China, and I won't get around to playing The Witcher 2 until 2013 at the absolute earliest, but for a favorite gaming moment, I'll give mention to the first time I started up the Ultima V: Lazarus mod for Dungeon Siege and discovered that I was actually playing Ultima V in a modern(ish) game engine. I have yet to play The Ultima 6 Project for the same engine, though - one of these days when I have the time...

This has to be my favorite gaming moment:

Looks like I'm going to have the call in the hitmen again for Wingnut.
-
Baka thinks that hitmen cannot beat lawyers
-
Lawyers are unlimited in number, they're like a zombie apocolypse... Hitmen are like the dumb blondes in horror movies: easy to kill and dumb as a box of rocks.
-
Favorite gaming moment... dunno, there are tons of cool moments, I remember how satisfying it was to find the last bloody cup in Super Mario Land 3 (on Gameboy)
-
Sorry that I haven't been so active on NBR :c
So caught up with school, once summer is here I will surely be active
My favorite gaming moment was probably Easter break of 2011
I joined an open lobby for Call Of Duty Black Ops (on Xbox) which was on a livestream
Had a lot of fun playing with random people and FOB (a youtuber).
Some of us went to play matchmaking and we stomped team tactical all night
I remember laughing so hard when people would back out as soon as we entered the lobby, owning noobs so hard that they ragequit :3
I eventually crashed at like noon and my parents were pissed at me because I had school the next day.
It was the most memorable gaming moment that I've had, but I'm sure I have way better stories that I can't remember right now (sleep deprived from schoolwork xD).
Have a good day/night everybody! -
Thanks HTWingnut, you generosity is only exceeded by your good taste in avatars... My seminal moment in gaming was going from MTM2 on a Dell
D610 to Need for Speed Shift on my ASUS. -
I will add my story on Saturday. It is too long to type via cell phone today.
-
Favorite game moment: Meeting a friend on guild wars
-
Aw this is hard, trying to find the favorite gaming moment lol...
I feel like a massive mmorpg nerd for saying this but hey, Im amongst other nerds
Theres this mmorpg (action rpg really) called Dragon Nest and I just finished my last exam for the week so I was going to play some DN with my guild. I started playing at around 9pm. We started pvping in the arena around that time.
Next thing you know its 4am in the morning and we were all freaking out at how fast time went.

My best experience was being kicked and banned for hacking in a multiplayer game of C&C renegade for single handedly blowing up the opposing team's base (while killing them all with the pistol), I of course was not hacking so took it as a huge compliment.
-
My most memorable gaming moment is actually not of me gaming, but of someone else. My father got me into gaming on the original NES. I remember being about 7 and falling asleep in the den watching him play the first Zelda. He shook me awake shouting my name around 3am just because he was excited and wanted to share with someone that he had just beat Ganon. That was the start of my gaming addiction.
-
Playing Beyond Good & Evil for the first time.
That is one epic game and is available @ GoG.com for 5 bucks next week, just like the rest of the catalog of games.
And as always, DRM free.
