As I'm sure everyone is aware, judging by my recent frantic activity on these forums, I have a new laptop.

This laptop has the capabilities to run almost every game I put on it, but I encountered a rather strange imbalance in performance the other day.

    Doom3 runs better than Half-Life2.

I can't give you FPS because I don't know how to bring up the displays, but it's pretty obvious that there's a distinct difference in performance.

I can run Doom3 at 1024*768 with all detail to max but no AA and it runs almost dead smooth. Whereas I run Half-Life2 at 800*600 with medium settings for all and it jitters like hell.

It doesn't make any sense and it's HL2 I want to play. They're both demos that the difference was observing in btw.

    Any ideas?
