I am still waiting for SP1 to show up on my windows update but I will be installing the 64 bit version as soon as it does.
For those that have it already show off your performance increases! (or decreases haha).

-
make sure you hit "check for updates" while on the windows update screen. Thats how I got mine to pop.
BTW it is taking a while to install...download was fast installng is taking time. -
Hey miscolobo,
I read your thread about CSS gaming on your Geforce 8400m GT...
Nice... hehehe. -
Thanks lol...how about you post a result with the same settings. Post it on my thread..
SP1 ISNT HERE YET WAHHH!! -
is vista sp1 released already and all you have to do is a windows update what's the name of the update will it tell you sp1
-
Guys, you might have to either click "check for updates" on the left panel in the windows update panel, or go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and it will also check for updates.
I had to go to that website before the update appeared for me. -
Just got sp1 installed on both my desktop and my laptop bot 64 bit versions running windows vista ultimate.
Ran 3dmark06 and the score was only 8 points higher so the performance increase isnt big there anyway. Games seem to run about the same...I guess it will take a few days before I start to notice any performance increases. -
Crimsonman Ex NBR member
I just downloaded the installer.
I haven't played any games yet. But I doubt it will be huge in terms of FPS difference -
More likely improvements in explorer tasks, copying, browsing etc.
You don`t expect MS to release a SP just so we can game better now do you? -
Im not receiving the update on Windows update -.- i cliked check for updates but nothing..
-
That is what did it for me. -
Im just downloading the installer off of microsoft. Im not goin to get it anywhere else.

Can I install the SP1 of a different language on my windows vista?
I mean, the windows vista I've got on my laptop is in Portuguese but I'd like to dl an english version of the Vista SP1 (as there is no SP1 in portuguese yet...).
Would that be possible? Or would it screw up my whole OS???
Help! -
If youve read the benchmarks from the vista forum.. SP1 will make your computers run slightly slower
No performance will be added for gaming but it will fix alot of minor and major annoyances with vista -
I think the Portuguese SP1 release will be on Windows Update in early April.
Unless you want too be seeing the OS in english, I think I'd stick with Portuguese.
Then again, it seems that after installing SP1, all of the language packs may have been integrated into the OS, I no longer see them all bunched up in the Windows Update optional updates. -
Also if you have one of the affected/problematic driver. You will not be able to see if on windows update even if they have officially released it.
-
I got the Windows update pop up balloon alert and installed it everything was quick and smooth, so far no problems.
-
why does it say mid April it will be automatically updated on the microsoft site? I can't update, are yall joking?
-
I have SP1 from MSDN for a while now, and since it speeds up the USB disk transfer speed, now I keep some of my games on the external USB disk. Games load faster. Otherwise not too much speed improvement.
-
I think you have to uninstall SP1 RC first .. otherwise it doesnt show up -
-
I've heard there are some drivers that aren't compatible with Vista SP1, so to stop people from downloading the pack microsoft has made Windows update hide SP1 until your drivers don't confilict at which point SP1 will become available to you.
-
Ill try to do more tests today!
-
Tested NFS prostreet with XP, Vista, and SP1 Vista on the same machine. All I can say is that PRostreet is running much smoother with sp1 than not only regular, but XP as well. I'll download fraps later and get some official FPS.
