I am still waiting for SP1 to show up on my windows update but I will be installing the 64 bit version as soon as it does.

For those that have it already show off your performance increases! (or decreases haha).

Guys, you might have to either click "check for updates" on the left panel in the windows update panel, or go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and it will also check for updates.

I had to go to that website before the update appeared for me.

Just got sp1 installed on both my desktop and my laptop bot 64 bit versions running windows vista ultimate.

Ran 3dmark06 and the score was only 8 points higher so the performance increase isnt big there anyway. Games seem to run about the same...I guess it will take a few days before I start to notice any performance increases.

    I just downloaded the installer.

I haven't played any games yet. But I doubt it will be huge in terms of FPS difference

More likely improvements in explorer tasks, copying, browsing etc.
You don`t expect MS to release a SP just so we can game better now do you? :)

Can I install the SP1 of a different language on my windows vista?

I mean, the windows vista I've got on my laptop is in Portuguese but I'd like to dl an english version of the Vista SP1 (as there is no SP1 in portuguese yet...).

Would that be possible? Or would it screw up my whole OS???

    Help! :(

If youve read the benchmarks from the vista forum.. SP1 will make your computers run slightly slower

No performance will be added for gaming but it will fix alot of minor and major annoyances with vista

I think the Portuguese SP1 release will be on Windows Update in early April.

Unless you want too be seeing the OS in english, I think I'd stick with Portuguese.

Then again, it seems that after installing SP1, all of the language packs may have been integrated into the OS, I no longer see them all bunched up in the Windows Update optional updates.

Also if you have one of the affected/problematic driver. You will not be able to see if on windows update even if they have officially released it.

I have SP1 from MSDN for a while now, and since it speeds up the USB disk transfer speed, now I keep some of my games on the external USB disk. Games load faster. Otherwise not too much speed improvement.

Right now, you can get SP1 by manually searching for updates and selecting SP1. In mid-April, they'll start automatically giving it to all Vista users.

I've heard there are some drivers that aren't compatible with Vista SP1, so to stop people from downloading the pack microsoft has made Windows update hide SP1 until your drivers don't confilict at which point SP1 will become available to you.

Tested NFS prostreet with XP, Vista, and SP1 Vista on the same machine. All I can say is that PRostreet is running much smoother with sp1 than not only regular, but XP as well. I'll download fraps later and get some official FPS.

does this include video drivers from laptopvideo2go? if so all we should need to do is re-install the factory drivers and then we should be able to get SP1
