Yea it's been out since last week, I played a bit of the new Arena Mode and it was pretty HARD but good fun.

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Yup, I've installed it yesterday.
The game is still stupidly demanding even on low/medium settings, the new tutorial is fun but it's depressing having the game running at low details struggling for 30fps at 1080p.
I know that my gtx460m even oced to 835/1670/1600 isn't a gaming beast in the league of a gtx580m or similar, but hell!
Anyway I've completed the game twice with both paths, they really should implement a feature to access new side quests without reaching certain points...like small "missions", something like that. -
Yes i agree the game performance really sucks.
I wish they will fix it someday. i just cant play even at low with 25-30 and medium-high like 20-25 and the difference is very small.
i wish the game performed better or scaled better on GPU and CPU:S
UU yes i started today a bit the new dark mode. its not easy but its fun untill you get used to the game combat again a bit

One of my favorite games, I am considering replaying it soon. Any mod suggestions? Especially ones with more items and gear (but not limited to just item and gear mods).
-
Does the game run well on the CF systems? What does it take to run at high settings? My system is in my sig. I am usually an FPS junkie but am looking for a different experience on my alienware. What do people love about this game that may sway me into purchasing it?

I still want them to fix the issues on the first game bleh needs to fix the multi monitor support.
-
I played 20 minutes and deleted it (when it came out). I also started/stopped the first game about a dozen times.
I'll try this patch out on my desktop. I really feel like i am missing something and want to like it. -
The game works well with CF systems. You should be able to run everything on ultra with uber-sampling off, I run the game on ultra(uber-sampling, SSAO off) and get 30-60 FPS on a single 6970M running at 800/1000. Oh, be sure to update to the latest patch as it will remove the nasty DRM thing which drastically cuts your FPS.
If you like action games with GORGEOUS graphics, you can't go wrong with this one. Search some youtube game play clips and see if that's your type. -

Edit - basically as lidowxx says above, you should be fine
My experience would tally with his, and I can't see patch 2.0 performing worse, if anything it was meant to be slightly better

The first one takes a while to get going. The first chapter is really just running all over the swamp. Once you get into Vizima, it gets pretty good.
TW2 is HARD. Like, I died 5 times on the first fight in the game. On Normal. And I eventually dropped it down to Easy because the Endrega Queens were owning me something fierce. -

ya the Endrega Queens are very difficult to beat...however, there is a technique you can use. Draw the queens out as far as they will go. If they go too far, they will walk back to protect the fetuses. When they are walking back, you can hit them several times without taking any damage. Then run like crazy lol...rinse, repeat. -

On my G73SW I had to drop the resolution to 1600 and drop some of the IQ settings to get it to run smoothly on my overclocked 460m. This pissed me off so much that i wanted to upgrade my hardware, and with the new AAA titles coming like Skyrim etc, i needed to upgrade. Thankfully, the wife approved
The game is very demanding, but it runs smooth on my new alienware @ 1080P with everything pumped up (except for uber sampling). I haven't tried patch 2 but i'm hoping that it has improved performance even more -
Haha nice. I tried to Yrden them and get behind them to hack away, but they broke free too fast and attacking from the front is suicide. On Easy, you can just keep hitting them until they die without them ever landing a hit on you.

Patch 2.0 didn't really do much if you ask me XD

The Witcher 2 gets a lot easier sometime in the middle of Act 2, when you unlock the higher tier abilities. Some of 'em are really pretty damned powerful. 10% damage reduction, critical abilities and damage for one ability point? I'm all over that.
I just cheesed them. See an Endrega Queen? Quickload, place 30 Snares in a single spot, go aggro the queen, and then laugh when she charges the snares and dies. -
Too bad still no performance patch to resolve the performance issues. I'm not having any graphical bugs, just seems a shame Witcher 2 runs so badly for a DX9 game. It's a great looking game, but if I can play Crysis with higher and smoother framerate than I can with Witcher 2, I think there is something wrong.

That's a Steam issue and it's a problem for other games as well. Patch updates for Steam are often monstrous in comparison to if you chose not to buy from Steam

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
lulz. Well the good ol' 9800m GT can handle it at 720p with medium-ish settings iirc.
I kinda miss my old GT2 when i had the m860tu, and the GTX with the xps m1730 in sli.
When they dont break out of the blue, the cards perform great. -
You are gonna blame it on the game because your gfx card can't run it?
-
Hi guys, i want to uninstall witcher 2 and reinstall it again cause i want to patch it to 2.0 version but i don't want to lose my save game. Is there a way not to lose my save game progress? Thx for any input or help
-
Normally when you uninstall any program it will not delete the saves, and if it can it will ask you before doing so. So there is no problem by uninstalling it.
-
okay, thank you sir
