900p is the lowest resolution i will go to and on a 17" display it looks fine.

Me too. Hasn't crashed once, and I'm having a blast. I just fought a large bug warrior looking thing that was blocking the road on my last play. It was level 11, far above mine, but I was determined. Took me like 15-20 minutes and all my food, but I took it down with like a quarter of my health left. I probably should have reloaded and used more igni from a distance, but bah.. Live with the decision...
I'm playing at 900p with some stuff turned on. Finding it looks great, frame rate is fine. I really like the feel of the game and the environs.killkenny1 and be77solo like this. -

The new patch increased vram usage from what i saw but still 2gb vram are enough.Aside from better textures and other cosmetics no real improvement in framerate.Seems they still optimize hairworks and not other segments
-
900p has enough pixels to make it not look like crap and the 17" display also helps. I am playing the game at 900p30 and its fine.
Anything lower and it starts to look like craps. -
Additionally, someone was wanting it in this thread, can't remember who, but they added 720p as a supported resolution.

That must be the Endrega Warrior. It was muuuch easier to kill in TW2 when a few were found outside Flotsam. Heck, even the boss insect in that game, the Arachas, wasn't as difficult to dispatch. These *censored* are a PITA - I tried killing it five times before I gave up and ended up just galloping past it to get to Keira Metz (hot blonde witch - fap-fap-fap).
I also found the levelling to be ridiculously slow - the EXP I gained after clearing an entire coast full of pirates was barely enough to fill a quarter of the bar - although I gained some seriously good loot. I also found it was much easier to kill stuff (and people) on horseback - gallop past them and slash.
The crashing issues seem to have been fixed with patch 1.04 - I played through several hours of the game without crashing at all. Kudos to CDPR for fixing issues so quickly.
Now, if only they'd bring back the old TW2 list-style menu. It's horrendously difficult to order the grid, and "F to sort" doesn't seem to do anything. I much preferred the list view in TW2. -
I also noticed that if you consume food while poisoned, it doesn't work. Even if the poison status runs out well before the vitality regeneration timer, vitality will not regenerate.

It didnt look blurry at all looked fine honestly just except for the fact I lost my 16:9 ratio for my widescreen. They did update a patch today ver 1.04 and it added 720p to the game as I requested with other fixes however due to sub min specs I lose frames at anything above the lowest res in the options which is 768 . For gtaV and Rise my best res for a solid 25-30fps is 1152x648 which looks the same as 720p. Since I don't game at 1080p my target is 720p or 648p and those up scale nicely on my tv. My next pc is going to feel amazing at 1080p or when I finally upgrade lol. Good things comes to those who wait pal.Last edited: May 25, 2015 -
Just played like my first 10 hours today. Great game, runs fantastic on the titan x, really difficult though. I'm thinking of just getting acquainted to the game with the PC version and then getting the ps4 version when it comes down in price and forcing myself to not cheat with that version

Witcher 3 blows Skyrim out of the water. It will probably blow TES VI and FO 4 out of the water too. -

Nah, modded Skyrim is still nice, and I've enjoyed playing it a lot. But after I buy a desktop it's gonna be Prepar3d 2 and The Withcer 3 for me (skipping TW2 for the time being).
At this point I think I'll ask this question once again - do saves imported from TW2 bring much to the table? Also, is there a sort of in-game way in TW3 to make decisions you would make in TW2? -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
For your first question, no, they don't affect the storyline of TW3 itself, but they do (apparently) change how people, especially in Velen, treat you, depending on whether you chose Roche or Iorveth.
For your second question, yes. In Nilfgaard (after White Orchard), you're asked a series of questions that tie in with your decisions in TW2. I suppose you haven't played that, so I won't spoil it for you.TomJGX and killkenny1 like this. -
Still haven't got around to playing this game. It's come out just when I had some coursework deadlines, presentations, my 23rd and a trip to Northern Ireland. Busy busy.
All I've had the chance to do so far is marvel at the lovely mountain view right at the start of the game.
Can't wait to try it out properly later this week. Need to catch up on The Witcher storyline from the first two games. Had intended to complete them before this was released but got caught up in the release of Dark Souls II: SOTFS. -
20 Hour Review:
Have only scratched the surface of the core story. Those secondary, witcher, and treasure quests keep me plenty distracted... Definitely one of those games that is ruthless early in the game but gets progressively easier.
Really enjoying it, like it more than Skyrim, GTA5... if I didn't get it for free I would have paid for it, great game.HTWingNut likes this. -

Don't get me wrong, I've no doubt it's a fantastic game. I just don't agree in principle with the dishonest way in which it was marketed. It's an industry-wide problem for sure (see also: Killzone 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Dark Souls II, Watch Dogs) but CDPR should know better.LanceAvion, Cakefish and killkenny1 like this.

Hey if you all remember I was very enthusiastic about possible Witcher 3 mods and some of you who may know little about me know that I'm am one of the few elite who is playing the game at sub par specs on a soon to be 6 yo laptop. I have found a mod that everyone should be checking out and it allows for many tweaks including custom resolution and many post processing and graphical tweaks. This is the first of many mods to come but this already shows incredible promise. Those of you who are under the min specs like me will benefit as well as those of you who meet or exceed the specs will enjoy tweaking this.

Also to the few that are not satisfied with the graphics downgrade I highly recommend you try this also included:

You can read it, but if you want to download or post it will cost you £1.29 or something like that. Not a huge cost, just a cost. But there are limits with that basic membership.

Hmmm, it lets me do everything without pay. $2 fee is just to remove ads for lifetime, it doesn't affect DL or posting capabilities. -
Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Uh... I don't know if it has changed since I first got an account there, but signing up was completely free... That basic account gets you (throttled to 1 MiB/s) downloads and permission to post. Last I checked, you only needed to pay to get unlimited speeds.
Edit: see pic below @HTWingNut.

You sure? It did go on to "Step 2: Your Account" where I could type in all the usual info, for me - I just tried it. Maybe try it on your phone or something? The server might have gone nuts for a bit... -
Does anyone have any problems/bugs on Secondary Quest, Of Swords and Dumplings? Nothing happened after meeting Sukrus.

Tried messing around with the changes to the 1.04 patch last night and turned Sharpness all the way up... and while it does make things pop vividly, my eyes couldn't take it. I had to move it down to Low (I got ambushed by a pack of Drowners and the reflectiveness of the skin was blinding). Oddity worth mentioning with this update is that some of my graphic sliders changed, so had to change them back.
-
i have sharpness off cos i couldn't see any noticable difference in PQ.

Ionising_Radiation ?v = ve*ln(m0/m1)
Tried the E3FX ReShade mod. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I appreciate the work of the mod author - but beyond adding a blueish overlay to the game, I don't see any differences, certainly not worth that 10-15 FPS hit.

I didn't see any blurry textures in 1.03 but it seems like CDPR switched from AF to Mipmap Bias in 1.04 which is tied-in with the Texture quality in settings. I hate sharpening and I've seen people reporting lower performance after the patch? Personally I would cut down the user.settings options below the default minimum but in 1.04 it runs worse even with that :/
-
I have cpu throttling issue while playing this game. Haven't found the reason why.

Just gave this a go on my 780ti sli rig last night at 1440p and it runs surprisingly well for all the things that have been said regarding Kepler. When my rog swift comes in Tuesday will probably feel even better
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
I am running that game on my rig in the sig all high @1080p with only low shadows, no blur or DOF cuz I find all bluring options disgusting
with my 880m undervolted -50mv & on stock 954 MHz clocks
The lowest fps I saw was 38 in a very dense area and I am constantly running at 45-60 fps (I am locking the game at 60 fps) & my GPU temp doesn't go past 78c vs the constant 84c I have when running LoTR SoM
Using driver 347.88 though
In my book this is some good performance but I don't mind the extra boost in whatever new driver Nvidia will release
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Hmmm, a bit too sharp for my taste. Are you using that SweetFX/ReShade?
Also, I said it before and I will say it again - grass looks horrible in TW3...
With that setup it better run well... -
I'm not using any of that software, maybe it is a bit too sharp, but i was playing 900p on 17".
Yeah, the grass is really bad plus it has no shadows whatsoever. -
Rendering grass that looks like real grass is hard, on the same order as rendering hair and fur that look like real hair and fur. So games use textures but static textures never look right. The more detailed and "perfect" you try to make them, the deeper they fall into the uncanny valley.

Anyone has a spare steam key for this game? D:
Have it on PS4 but want to experience it on PC and my financial situation isn't so great at the moment.
Also, is anyone having XP bugs on PC? Saw a lot of people having that problem.TomJGX likes this. -

My membership was free but then again I joined a few years back so they might have changed the policy and grandfathered all the older members. One thing to recommend is disabling any add block software you may have and try joining skyrim nexus first pal.
I also must recommend this low spec patch for others with low end machines struggling to play on low. I use this mod in combination with the hunter spec mod I posted a few pages back and I can now play fullscreen 16:9 @ 1152x648p (just about as good as 720p)with sweet fx. The sweet fx gives that cooler shade from the 2013 promos and its own anti-aliasing with hardly any performance hit as a matter of fact I turn the in game fxaa off and use sweet fx instead and it looks smoother and plays better.

I have not encountered the XP bug yet, but yes there is a bug where Quest XP isn't awarding the correct amount. Mob XP (outside Witcher quest monsters and Boss mobs) is generally pretty low.

To me general problems with grass are aliasing, collision and polygon counts. But with CDPR it's always been the issue that they use various techniques that artistically don’t work together and there are extremes from both ends in each game. TW1 was built on the Aurora Engine but look at this area:
http://i.imgur.com/4Kp6ocf.jpg
TW3 is a “realistic looking” 3rd person open world game, trying to make it look extremely good requires a LOT of technical talent and QA, which they don’t have.
