Before you proceed, may I chime in for a brief moment?
You really should play Sleeping Dogs. It's a really nice game. Sure, car controls are a bit wonky, but story, knuckle driven gameplay, and great visuals (even to this day) make it one of the best open world city games out there.
And surprise surprise, it's on sale on both Steam and Green Man Gaming at the moment. -
Just don't get the Definitively Worse Edition
-

It is? Damn shame, because, as far as I know, it's the only version left out there. You can't purchase "ordinary" version anymore. At least on Steam or GMG.
Sorry for off-topic. -

Ah, yeah, sure - thanks for the suggestion. But I've got mid-year exams in a month, and I've put away my laptop already - gotta mug. I'll probably buy it but can't install or play, same case with TW3. I've played about 50 hours' worth already, and have barely scratched the surface (died too many times and random exploration and killing). I'll look forward to it come December when I'm done with A levels.
Aaaanyway, does anyone have a strategy or preferred deck for Gwent yet? I'm more or less stuck with the default deck and have gotten owned by everyone except the Oxenfurt academic who is at the White Orchard inn. -
Alright already. We get it! It doesn't live up to the E3 demo... but what games ever do? The game is what it is, either take it for what it is, or take it up with CDPR, or just don't buy it. A game is more than just graphics, it's the sum of the parts. Yes, sometimes the immersion is lost if some things look wonky, but Witcher 3 it is still a great game. Could they improve graphics in some areas? Yes. Could they optimize it a little better? Yes. We agree. Let's move on. We're beating a dead griffon here.

And, really, if you haven't actually spent 15-20 hours experiencing the game, your arguments are about as helpful as a glass of water thrown on a 3-alarm fire.

True enough guys - let's close the graphics discussion. If anyone wants to take it up further, the CDPR forums are open - please head there and make your point - it's more likely that the devs will find your posts and qualms there.
Back to my question: do you guys have a strategy for Gwent yet? Any preference for a race? -
I haven't played much Gwent yet. Only two games. Won them both pretty handily, which just means I haven't played any of the good central character players yet. I see the chance in the dialogue options and am usually too concerned with a quest to stop and play. My guess is probably even though I love table top gaming, I never got into any of the deck building ones, so I'm not strongly drawn to it.
I figure I'll start running around playing it after I exhaust a lions share of the quests in the game.Ionising_Radiation likes this. -
Haha.. So I was on my way to a certain city to find a person for a certain quest.. I decided to try to swim across this river and saw a winged beast (being very vague on purpose.. ).. So .. luckily.. I saved the game.. figuring I could try to take it out, but just in case..

I've heard really good things about Gwent, to the point that gamers who hate minigames and hate card games want a standalone Gwent game.Ionising_Radiation likes this.

As a data point, Gamebryo is not in-house at Bethesda.

CDPR might just get a card game publisher to start printing real cards. It's a very real possibility.
Nevertheless, I'd like the arm-wrestling and dice poker of the previous game to return as well. -
OT: The sad thing is that while Sleeping Dogs had less pop-in, the distant buildings were extremely downsampled x)
Personally I have very bad experience with CryEngine, at least when it comes to the user side and having to use 3rd party software to deal with some of the post-processing. I'm interested in UE4, Bioshock Infinite was built on a modified UE3 and it had really nice options (but it might just be that I liked the aesthetic).
I could definitely see them making a standalone version for GoG Galaxy, although last time I saw it the Witcher adventure game had no re-join function and dropped game sessions often.Last edited: May 30, 2015 -
Some new mods out including one very useful technical mod: a debug console enabler. This along with a free camera mod make for some amusing visuals:
-
Yeah you're right. Creation was done in-house though and was based on Gamebryo.
I think you mean blurred/out of focus. That's the game's DoF which unfortunately can't be turned off. -
I can relate to that - I have 4 exams at uni coming in the next 3 weeks - that's why I haven't even started the game yet. I am waiting for a more opportune moment (i.e. after the exams).
-
So... Since we are 77 pages in... Is this game working how it should be now and worth the purchase? And what's the best deal for it?
-
Not bad for a game that was just released. Might wait til it drops to 25 though.

I looked at that but wasn't sure if it was legal or not.

So far so good! Its through GOG. You put in the CD code, download the game; and play! -
Not legit
-

Says you? Right. I'll take your word as I continue to play TW3. -
Just a caveat emptor to anyone else looking to buy from there, dunno why you gotta be so ornery about it

Because you're spreading misinformation without an ounce of proof to back up your assertion. It's not helpful in any sense and doesn't add substance to the conversation. If you have proof - please present it, otherwise; its a baseless opinion where as mine, I have experience with them. I've bought a number of games from them and every single one of them was legit.
Either way, anyone who wants to use that site - go nuts, it'll save you a ton; they use PayPal so no harm/no foul. With that, ima moonwalk my way outta this thread once again.Last edited: May 30, 2015 -
I actually just did some digging on this...
Its legal for you to buy those keys but it is against various EULAs to use them. These outfits buy physical games in bulk from regions where they are cheap and sell the keys for Steam, Origin, etc. For GOG it shouldn't really matter since they don't use DRM but I wouldn't trust my Steam account with a foreign retail key that I don't have in my personal possession... Apparently Valve has deactivated those keys in the past and there was some talk that someone could actually take your Steam account from you by showing the retail box with the key while you only get a picture of the key in your email...
It seems like a lot of the cheap Witcher 3 keys are from the nVidia redemption offers from purchasing a new video card.
I'll pass but thanks for sharing.Mr Najsman and Zax19 like this. -
It's for GOG, so no Steam involved. And what difference does it make if it came from someone that bought a new video card and didn't want the game? It's still a legit code. I'd be against some CD key generator key, but not one that came from a legit source.
-
What @Ethrem said. I suggest you read this for more clarification. It's not that the keys don't work (ofc they do, otherwise they wouldn't activate), it's that they were not obtained directly from game publishers. It's like if I used a VPN and bought a boatload of Russian/Ukrainian GOG TW3 keys (which are not region-locked because GOG trusts you) for $10 each and resold them for $30. Or if I resold keys I purchased in bulk from a Humble Bundle. GamingDragons is not listed on either /r/GameDeals or IsThereAnyDeal.com, so without any verification of its legitimacy it exists in the same gray area as other resellers like G2A and Kinguin. So caveat emptor, and know that buying from cheap unauthorized sources only encourages publishers to region-lock their games which in the end hurts everyone including legit buyers.Mr Najsman and Zax19 like this.

Read my previous post, then think about why all the shady sites sell GOG instead of Steam keys.

Buy a new nGreedia card and get it for free

LOL that's gotta be the worst deal for TW3 I have ever seen
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Not for people who actually need a new GPU
.
Also, Batman Arkham Knight is included. That's not too bad. -
Not buying a GTX 980 when I have a 780 Ti... Not enough of a performance boost to justify the cash. 980 Ti is probably going to be too expensive so meh.
-
Waiting for my cupon to get it for free with my new laptop (10 days before they send it to me), The performance should be okey with the 970M, from what I read I think I can expect correct performance at 1080p.
-
At 1080p Witcher 3 runs fine at high details, with the performance sucking details turned off like the Fabio hair.

Might buy it again. Regret not having a Steam copy. GOG Galaxy lacks basic Windows scaling support just like Origin :/
-
Yep. It's the same thing as grey market camera lenses. You get the same lens at a lower price because individual importers don't slap consumers with large import markups like Canon and Nikon do, but you don't get things like a warranty. If something goes wrong with your grey market merchandise then you're SOL.

Hey, is it not normal that FPS drops below 30 at low settings at Full HD res. with GTX 870M, is it?

What about Kepler?
-
Looks like this is the one that promises fixed Kepler performance.
-
there's a mobile version available.
-
GeForce Experience will pick it up when you check for updates.
-
Just a bit of a warning regarding 353.06 on Kepler, you may experience throttling: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/new-nvidia-geforce-whql-driver-353-06.776732/
That said if you don't, perhaps you can report on the performance benefits haha
