No way!!! Finally it is materialized!!! I am quite excited to see how this legendary IP will fare in today's FPS standards (it will be an FPS, right?).

Great news, but I won't believe it until I see it on store shelves (or on Steam). Remeber folks, May is a long ways off in terms of software.

Why is everyone so skeptic and "OMG ITS FINALLY COMING" about Duke Nukem? What's the big deal? Sounds fun, but why all this hype?

Because it's been in development for 10+ years, and I think it's passed through a few developers in that time as well.

Looks like they resolved the infighting and the lawsuit from last year, I still think it's going to tank for a game that's been in limbo for over a decade.

I just can't get excited about anything Gearbox touches.

Personally think Rage and Bulletstorm will be better than DNF both visually and gameplay.

I think it will be really poor compared to the fps shooters around now but that's just me. Gearbox just doesn't give me confidence and look at the politics and postponements that surrounded it. It will be a success though, so many people including myself used to play DNF in their youth.

At this point DNF is doomed whether they release it or not. It would have to be the game of the ages for it to get good reviews considering it's over decade long hiatus. And if it never released it would have been the neverending joke.

I'm glad they finally are putting this one to rest. I will enjoy it unless it's completely ridiculous or full of bugs.

I'm only waiting for the announcement of Duke Nukem: The Return of the King.

'Yeah, but after 12 ****ing years it should be'

Nice to see they have a humour about it. Looking forward to playing it.

Yeah, at the end. That was pretty funny. I can't wait for it. Original was just all around fun. Hopefully that capture that same fun in this game.

I think the big deal is due to the nostalgia from those of us who played Duke Nukem 3D in 1996/1997.

It was so far beyond Doom (the premiere FPS when Duke Nukem 3D was released) in the multiplayer game.

Jet packs, holo Dukes (nothing was more satisfying than placing a holo Duke and watching your opponent empty ammo into it while you snuck up behind...even better than a chain saw kill in Doom), shrink rays (nothing more insulting than being squished while you were tiny), freeze rays, microwave rays, night vision, laser trip wires, pipe bombs (you could fill a room full of them and then set a laser trip mine...it was way overkill, but still worth the effort), etc.

The single player wasn't especially spectacular but the environments were more interactive. You could actually play a game of pool with cheesy or no physics.

And then the one-liners and taunts...you just couldn't stop laughing.

Duke Nukem 3D broke the mold.

Unfortunately, DNF probably won't be as earth shattering as Duke Nukem 3D was because FPS have come a long way. And it's a very competitive market and difficult to set an FPS game apart or above the rest. But even if it just gets the sense of humor right, it will be worth the purchase price.

But the only way someone can understand the hype is if you played Duke Nukem 3D in its heyday...to this day, it's the most fun I've ever, ever had with an FPS. Better stories have come along (Half-Life series, Call of Duty series), better multiplayer (Unreal Tournament series), better gunplay/mechanics (about every FPS since), but I haven't had as much laughing, giggling FUN as I did with Duke Nukem 3D.

Yeah as long as they capture the spirit of the original with the fun factor it'll be well worth it. Heck even if they updated the graphics, and revamped the original story it would be worth it. You can get duke nukem 3D at gog.com by the way. $5.99, maybe it'll go on sale closer to release of DNF. Well worth a download and even if you play a couple levels get the gist of what it's all about.

It'll be "Duke Nuke: Hail to the King"

    Get it right. Heathen. :p

Fun fact: Many of Duke's quotes and the action are from various old B movies. The whole plot is a B movie ;) (NSFW language)
