As above am interested in getting skyrim as "best looking grapically" as possible.
I've obviously used various mods in the past including step guide etc. steam workshop seems to have pretty good looking stuff on it these days aswell and a million times easier to install than step.
So am interested what mods any of you guys playing on and the best i can get it to look.
I have an top-end m18x r2 btw

Here is how awesome skyrim can look:
Skyrim Mods |
I doubt you will achieve playable frames though, I know I didnt^^ -
It really is absolutely gobsmacking how amazing they are making these games look^
I always worry about mods conflicting and wiping my game out after hours in and having reinstall and things all over again, it's not like it's a 2 minute process these days -
Well as far as saves go you wont have a problem, I have about 40 mods installed and have never had a problem
The only time i "lost" my save was when I had increased the viewing distance in the config file, and then trying to revert back to original( which i DONT recommend you do)
The saves wouldn't load up but i eventually got it fixed with the console and the 3 autosaves skyrim makes
Just to be make you feel safer, backup your savegame located in C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves, install the mod and if anything goes wrong and your save gets corrupted you can easily restore -
Ahh skyrim... It was an ok game but I got bored of it pretty quick. There wasn't enough diversity in the environments.. All it is, Is a bunch of snow, mountains, and caves. Unlike morrowind which had tons of different environments. The guards had different Armor depending on the environment... The cities all had a unique style ect. Everything in skyrim. Including the guards, little shack villages, and outside environments look all the same. Disappointing..

I use this file in Notepad to edit load order, remove mods, add or rearrange a bunch of mods at once. You can even save or restore multiple backup versions of the file. -

Wow Hula,
You missed most of the game it seems.
Playing a vampire, joining the mages guild, thieves guild, assassins guild, warriors guild, werewolf, seeking out Daedric artifacts, neat little sidequest stories and just plain running into little things here and there made for a lot more than just kill a mob or two.
Did you finish the assassin challenges? (Kill targets, do not get noticed.)
Thieves guild quests? (no killing)
I had more than 300+ hours of fun with this game just on the first playthrough, not counting mods. While a "light" version of the Elder Scrolls series, it still had plenty of content for anyone with a longer attention span. (I found the character building somewhat limited though.)
It's just really sad all you could see is the 2 minutes of attention you put into it.

It is your loss I guess. -
Not to mention the german dude who spoke for 90% of all the male characters there...
-
To listen to 90% of those voiced NPCs for even one sentence is probably longer than most games being put out right now.
Furthurmore, there were 70 voice actors.
Yes, that means a few were repeated.
And the main voice you would have heard is male and likely of Nordic flavor.
Christian Svensson
Michael Gough
Olev Aleksander
I don't see any Germanic names.
Back on topic....
I wonder just how amazing they could have made the game if it wasn't held back by consoles. The earlier posted screenies are very pretty, but unplayable really. Furthurmore, if you have ever lived in a winter climate, they are FAR too lush.
My home is very similar to the climate in the game. (we are without true mountains though) The game thus kinda felt like walking around in my backyard in some places. It is missing some details, but is as close to the "feel" as any game has really gotten. Most games which feature cold climates far closer resemble Hollywood sets with their fake snow than reality. Skyrim did a much better job even with the limitations the consoles imposed. -
So the only modding on skyrim i've ever done is the step guide, never used nmm before which i am currently using. Just one question sometime when i have various file of the same type or optional files it asks me if i want to update and use a modified version of it, i have been clicking no and install mod anyway is that correct? sometimes it asks me to overwrite files from other mods and just press yes to all is that ok aswell or have i messed up?

Here is one of the voice actor I hear all the freaking time in skyrim: Martina Lotun. Especially with guards.
God I hate her accent
People of Skyrim: Mjoll the Lioness - YouTube
I have no idea who the other actor is that I hate so much, but its like hearing Arnold Scwarzneger in the game. Seriously annoying.
Other things I like to complain about is the amount of quests. I`m not hating quests, I think they make the foundation for a fun and exciting game. But it all falls apart when you are told by some villager to "Get my sword back from this and that house" which are few 100 meters away. There are tons of silly quests like this in the game.
What would have been a lot more fun is fewer quests, but bigger, and all of them would have a side story in the game. But no, there are way too many quests, and not to even mention locations. My map is PACKED with locations all over the place. Running around while exploring wasn`t remotely as fun as in previous games because when you were done with a cave you just had to run away few hundred meters down the road to find another cave...
I`ve read that people have used 200+ hours on this game, but I finished it @ 60 hours and I have explored almost all there is too it. My main skills are at 100, with the exception of restoration and other magical skills. How on earth have these people played 200 hours? They must have played through with many characters? -

You were able to finish in only 60 hours? I put 90 hours on my first character and was nowhere near finished with all there was to offer. I only beat the main quest and a couple guilds. Still so much left to do. I've made so many characters since last year, too. I've probably got around 200 hours in between my 360 and pc. You must play really quick
I spent a lot more time on Morrowind back in the day, though. I was totally addicted to it. TES doesn't draw me in like it used to. I would have quit a long time ago if it weren't for mods. The Souls series is now my addiction. I'm embarrassed to think about all the time I've spent pvping in Dark Souls lol. -
With my Nord warrior (64 hours) I have finished Main quest, The college of Winterhold, The companions, Thieves guild. My list of finished side quests is looooong. There are many which I haven`t done yet but I said "F*** it all" after being bombarded with silly side quests. And I have learned almost all shouts, except a few with the 3rd word.
Haven`t played any expansions yet though. Dawnguard sounds like fun
Yeah I agree with you. Morrowind was a lot more fun. It also had much more diverse locations with different climate. Skyrim is almost purely snow and mountains. That said, I like the graphic on this game. -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
but yeah, I would say you definitely got the full Skyrim experience. It does get old once you've done most of it though. I tend to drop for a few months then pick it up every now and then with a new character and mods. Agreed about Morrowind, every city and village felt totally unique. I never even finished the main quest in hundreds of hours of play.
It was so much fun to explore new areas, and I loved that there wasn't a gear and enemy leveling system like there is in Oblivion and Skyrim. It made it possible to get really awesome gear at lower levels, but you had to get lucky and really work for it. I remember killing a friggin god in the capital city (forgot the name of both the city and the god lol.) He was normally only seen way later in the main quest, but I remember trying so hard to access all these hard to get to places and when I found him I couldn't resist attacking him to see how powerful he was. Of course it meant I couldn't complete the main quest, but I didn't care lol. I could always load an earlier save if I wanted to beat it later.
The open world genre felt so fresh and new, and not so saturated like it is today. Morrowind is up there on my "favorite gaming experiences of all time" list. Such a great game.
The best looking skyrim can be?
