It "Could" happen, but i don't think its going to happen that fast. It really depends on how powerful they are. If intel makes a processor-graphics combo that relates too an 8800gt and is affordable in comparison, then they'll be in the running. But they'll have to beat out the ultra, or the 9800 gx2 in order for people to say "Hey, look over there. Finally a solution to our computer Crysis"

It looks like they tested it with Nehalem. So that means Nehalem has the capability already to be a discrete GPU.

Although i still cannot believe it can happen within 5 years time.

I assume it will highly depend on if they can market the affordability, as well as the power over descrete cards. Nobody wants to pay 2x as much for new technology if it isn't going to beat up the 8800's. But if they have something that is more powerful than we currently have...then they can easily step in and smoke out the competition.

Looks like AMD will have to find a new way to defeat Intel. Since Intel already have plans for Graphics in thier CPU.

With multi-core CPU's it is inevitable. They need to do something with them.

I don't think discrete graphics will ever die though, because dedicated hardware is what a PC is all about. There will always be a want/need for more powerful graphics on one PC than another.

It is good news for integrated graphics though, at least it sounds like they won't be the wimpy performers they are now. For laptops that is good news.

Personally I like this idea, makes things easier and more efficient. Think of being able to run top games on a 12in laptop because it has a certain CPU in it.

Intense competition is always good for us. With companies having to bend over backwards to compete the product will always have to get better.

Yeah tell me about it. I for one am tired of testing and installing new drivers to find out they either bug, or dont work as good as a previous driver or say to myself well I wish my 169.yy had this feature of 169.xx and that feature from 169.xy without the bugs in 169.yx.

I really like this idea and i think it'll be cool to see what happens to it in the future. As he said in the video, we'll get to see some amazing things.
