    Hello! :)

    As the title states, what is the difference between the LV2G.com's inf file, and the inf file that comes included in the nVidia executable?

    This is the method I use -

    I download the drivers from nVidia, extract them, use the "Have Disk" method, and select the extracted inf file, and chose 8600GT (for my 8600M GT), and it works well.

    So the question is, does the LV2G.com's inf only add 8600 M GT in the list, or is there something else as well? Because if that's (the former) the only reason, then it's not needed really, as it works fine when 8600 GT is selected (from nVidia's drivers).

    Please explain.

    Thanks!

    You're installing drives the manual way, which is fine. The LV2G .INF file adds 'support' for the mobile GPUs so the installer will recognized them and that's it. Basically replacing the Nvidia .INF file with the LV2G one saves you a few steps.

    After replacing the .inf you can simply run the setup, it's same thing. Although i'd recommend doing a clean install with Driver Sweeper first!

    Thank you for the replies. And yes, I do use Driver Sweeper in safe mode before I update my drivers. So there is no performace boost or such, right?

    * Extract the exe to a folder
    * Replace the inf
    * Remove driver from disk/hardware management
    * retart in safe mode
    * run Driver Sweeper and clean nvidia files
    * restart
    * run setup

    No performance boost. Inf only adds the mobile graphics card key.
    The performance boost will be in the driver, IF there's any boost :)

    I was just thinking of this method of installing drivers on the M1730.
    I tend to use the manual 'Have Disk' method to install drivers anyways, as I dont always like installing all the other software when you run the .exe setup file. I like to have just the driver to get my component to work.

    So can anyone confirm that if I download the driver from nVidia rather then from laptopvideos2go, and use the 'Have Disk' method, should it work fine??

    Sorry for the late reply, but yes, this method works perfectly fine.
