Check it out! They bench it in comparison to the 7800go GTX x1600 and x600, in Quake 4, Fear, and HL2 Lost Coast!
Made me pretty happy about my decision to buy a dell e1505

Very nice links!
The Sager isn't doing nearly as well as the Alienware Aurora M7700 I just reviewed (I got 50FPS avg vs the 33 they got for 1280x1024, 4X AA, and high in Quake 4), but that's probably because mine had a dual-core FX-60. I also got over 4k in 3DMark06, vs the 3100 they had. Of course, it is impressive nonetheless.
The X1400 is a very nice step up from the X600, glad to see performance across the generations is steadily increasing.
Excellent info, thanks again.

thanks for the info -
Good info thanks for the link Enigma86. These are the first X1400 benchmarks I have seen... very helpful.

I really have to question those results. While the 3DMark scores are in line with what we have, I know for a fact that a 128MB X600 runs Quake 4 a heck of a lot better than 16.2 fps at 800x600 Medium. I've run Quake 4 at 800x600 Medium on my notebook and it was very playable. Not great, but very playable. I seriously doubt my butch processor can account for at least a 10 fps delta. Honestly, I'd expect much better performance out of the X1400 in that regard.
I just can't believe all these games really bring ATI hardware to its knees the way this article claims it. Look at the dive the X1600 takes going from low to medium settings at 1024x768 in FEAR! 98fps drop down to being incrementally better than the X1400 and X600?!? I don't think so.
I'm sorry, but a lot of these results are really goofy. And the note for Quake 4 "We did not run benchmarks at Low Graphics Quality settings as cards with 128MB VRAM or more do not benefit from the lowered settings. If we test any <128MB cards, we will run Low Quality tests." is patently false. My X600 sees performance improvements at low quality.
I'd take this article with a grain of salt, honestly. -
Great info. The x1400 set out to replace the x600 and it has. Even if through a series of small imrovments. Looks like it really did well with low res medium set and medium res mediem set. Thats re-assuring.

Nice article, oh yes, how about 6600Go 128 vs x1400? Btw Thx

Remember they were using custom time demos, probably had bloatware running to some extent, and surely were not using optomized drivers. Im sure that when I get my x1400, ill be able to squeeze out 2400 3dmarks between overclocking and optimizations
Edit, aslo read about the setup, medium settings, wasnt really medium -
Hmm, I'm not unimpressed with the scores of the X1400. Though I think that the comparison is completely out of whack. I mean, the difference in spec's makes it entirely useless.
I'm happy I ordered the X1400 though, cant wait (the 3 weeks) before I can actually use it. -
I have the dell e1705 with the x1400 I was happy to get it although a little disappointed with the performance.. I am running the ati Omega Catalyst 6.2 drivers on with which support it as an M54. when you use ATI tool to try and overclock, it screws up the screen and never comes back. Even with VPU recover enabled. Heck I can leave the clock settings DEFAULT and when I click SET it screws up. Goes all blue and all you can do is power off. It performs nicely with UT2004 but chokes heavily in FEAR. I hope the next 6.4 catalyst driver improve upon this. I can't help but feel a little jipped that DELL pulled the 7800go from the e1705 and moved to x1400's. Ahh well.

Yay! My X1400 makes me proud. Yay! Thanks enigma!

For an ocasional gamer, X1400 is *much* better than X1300?

Faire, the x1400 has a stronger core, and DOUBLE the onboard memory of the x1300, for the meager price difference, you would be far happier with the x1400. IMO.
Im a very avid gamer, and plan on gaming a LOT on my laptop, but couldnt justify spending 2500 for a real powerful notebook, with vista and dx10 around the corner, the x1400 seemed like a nice budget card
The x1400 Benchmarks everyone has wanted!
