sorry, but what is the point of this tread?

I forbid myself from getting this game or even trying it. I know id be hooked. Thinking i would try an mmorpg i played knight online, and i got freaking addicted for a good 8 months. I gave that up and never want to play another one again. It ruined my life! -
Good thing I realised early I was hooked to WoW. Even if I didn't play for long, for about 3-4 months, I still feel guilty for the time wasted
Not even looking at this expansion, whatever is in there. WoW is dead for me. -
-
wow, good for you!
(I still can't stand those weird games, mmorpgs? whatever.)
/thread -
how can u waste time playing a MMORPG but not on a SP game?
If you think a MMORPG wastes ur time u should think the same about all other games. Very ridiculous to make such a statement.
And if you cant control yourself over a MMORPG but u can over a single player game that just means there is something wrong with u and not with the game. Take a course in self control management. -
World of Warcraft?
That game is still around? -
The OP wants to talk about this game and used this method to
strike up conversation.
Jees---when did we become so rigid. -
I played World of Warcraft for 3 years. i just stopped playing about 4 months ago. and i tried to play it and i said this is borning so i stopped playing and have not looked back. i am done with WoW. forever. i just play company of hero's or some other game. now i have free time for what ever i want.

Guild wars was the best online game ever. Tough to get addicted to cuz it was kinda short but still hard.
I played wow for a few months and then my computer had the good decency to die on me. I've never been so happy to have a computer utterly fail. -

Everquest,
nuff said. -
FPS's all the way.
-
Anarchy Online is a better MMORPG than WOW will ever be, especially with the new DX 9 and 10 engine coming for it.
-
It's only the largest MMORPG to date, and has been dominating the market since it's inception. Not to mention the expansion is going to bring a surge of new players aboard. -

It is so tempting to get back into WoW when this comes out. But I know WoW will steal my soul if I let it; I'll hold off until I lose the urge to buy it. I need to get good grades this year.
-
WOW sucks, end of thread. mods /close plz

i remember when wow came out it was the biggest game around, but blizzard has turn this game in to a repeat game just with new items/drops/instance's/raids everything stays the same. tons of kids play it, which they act like they are 8 year olds which few of them are. i just grew out of wow. i am 22 i had my fun in wow and now its time to finish my schooling and get this awesome job. wow is ok but other will say its omg the best game. but when you have played it for 3 years. gets kinda borning.

And er... MMO's are *all* the same leveling treadmill. What have you learned or experienced in an MMO lately that a good, well crafted story in a single player game didn't do better? Not much, I bet, other than the thrill of NEXT TIER OF LOOT MUST GET MY GROUP NEEDS ME TO RAID NEED LOOT TO RAID MORE.
MMOs, in a nutshell:
1) Loot/stat grind.
2) Pathetic hookup attempts.
That's it. Fun? -
I stick to non-mmos, I just think they are better made, with some artistic value, rather than just lure you to pay subscription -
Warcraft. Wasn't that released in like 1994?
-

Can there be a more worthless thread?

WOW was fun i played it for 3-4 years but quit half a year ago, it got so boring blizzard dumbed down the game for " casual " players it used to be so fun but blizzard screwed up the game.
-
Downloaded the trial. Made a human. Did the first mission. (kill X creatures) Uninstalled it from my computer. Setup file in the recycle bin. Of course, WoW wasn't the only MMO I've tried that got that treatment.

Well I will speak up for the addicts, played the game since early beta. Way too many level 70's to count, still find it perfectly enjoyable. I can understand some leaving it happens people have lives (luckily I steer clear of having a life
j/k ).
But seriously it is like this every 3 or 4 years for me, I get hooked on that one game and it claims years of my life.
Example played diablo one for about 5 years non-stop. Same for diablo 2, and halflife 1.
I imagine in another year I will move on " hello left 4 dead".
But my gameplay is healthy IMO because I play with all my real life friends. We go out, we have fun, then we have lan parties every now and then rack up some wow and other games.
But I MUST agree with the dumbing down of the game. For instance level 1-60 was a long process when it came out. Now you can do it in 3 weeks or even less. All because the new players didn't want to work for anything now it's given to them. Unless the expansion can make some serious headway I will join you ex-wow addicts/players and find another game or go back to school.
Sorry this is long, just wanted to state WOW can still be fun to some and healthy (as long as you keep a social life ofcourse). -
Absolutely. Online gaming with your friends can be the best thing you can do besides actually being with your friends. My problem is SP games. I get so **** hooked. (especially RPG's including but not limited to The Witcher, KOTOR 1+2, NWN2, Mass Effect, Oblivion, Morrowind)
You get hooked, you lose track of time. It sucks. I just uninstalled every single game from my computer, yet I know I'll get back to them. I seriously think the only way to get off of these games is to get a laptop with an IGP. Hahaha. -
If you're a gamer, you'll find a way. There are great games from the 1990's and early 2000 years that you just won't find today as far as originality and thought for gameplay.
Games are as old as the original computers. Pong originated by the developer of one of the first CRT PC's.
Actually the older, simpler games actually had more thought put into the gameplay than the graphics because graphics were either 2, 4, or even 8 bit (oooh!). I loved my Atari 2600...
So point being is that IGP's won't kill your desire, it'll just prevent you from buying new games. -

I love the advertisement for WotLK...
"redefine your concept of epic" or somethiing like that...
Yup...
Epic = roll character, they start you at max level, with epic gear, and you almost have to walk three feet in game to get a reward of "YOU WIN" flashing over your head every three seconds.
(will probably be nerfed down to not moving at all as it may require too much attention span to move 3 feet in game)
Oh, but I disagree about MMO's and their fun factor...
WoW, well yeah... due to its miserable community you cannot expect much.
However, other MMO's (even L2 with its MUCH longer grind) has made me more real-life friends (in multiple countries) that pretty much any activity I have ever participated in. (I am also a musician, hockey player, and IT guy)
I have sat down with such friends over beers and talked about "war stories" of fighting Quarm (EQ), Antharas(L2) and taking Aden Castle (L2) and had such fun... its the challenge and overcoming it with friends that makes an MMO worth the time.
I have even scored a job from one of my contacts in EQ.
Note, I don't see the difference between beers and L2 stories and beers and football stats...
Yes, there is a time for other things... but meeting new people and whacking somethiing imaginary with an imaginary sword can be quite stress-relieving and fun.
There goes my free time..
