    I am looking to buy a laptop and wanted to know about these dedicated graphics cards that come with the different laptops. I want to know which is the strongest card and which is the weakest and what type of games do they run. Such as Fary Cry 2 and others.

    I know that the performance of the game also depends on other specs such as ram and CPU and such but I want to know just about the graphics card for now. Thanks.

    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256mb
    NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS 256mb
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS 512mb
    NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS 512mb
    NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512mb

    Strongest = 9600M GT 512MB.

    I would go for the 9600 GS or GT because the 8600 had issues and the others I dont think will run the games you want.

    I would recomend the HP dv5t or the Sager NP2096.

    9600M GT > 8600M GT > 9600M GS > 8600M GS > 9200M GS

    Note: The difference between the 9600M GT and the 8600M GT is whether they use GDDR3 or DDR2... If the 9600M GT is DDR2 and the 8600M GT is GDDR3 then the 8600 wins it by a bit... If both are DDR2 or GDDR3, then the 9600 have the advantage...

    Are these cards decent for most games? Are they below average or average? Can they run games on like medium settings fine?

    the mid-range 8600M's and 9600M's (with 128-bit memory interface) should be able to play the latest games at medium settings. :)

    if you want better gaming performance try to get a high-end card (256-bit memory interface).... the lowest being 9700M GTS (found in .Toshiba F55)

    If you plan on playing games like Far Cry 2, cross the 9200M GS off the list. It is not a gaming GPU. The 8600M GT is about as low as you'd want to go for today's first person shooters.
