I do not believe this is real, but anyway, ill post a youtube link

I think this is the desktop version of the card.

his overclock (as stated in the video) is 700/1000...quite a big OC.

Apparently, with 800x600- Everything High, he gets about 20~30 fps? !LOL

    Witness the video...peoples.

I've given up on trying to play Crysis with anything above Medium haha.

I read somewhere that the new Crysis Warhead will be easier on our hardware so we can have "some" eye candy

Probably by 10 Frames or something, but the statement is still confusing, since it said you'll be able to pull 30-35 FPS on a 500$ rig, which i could say has a 9600gt, but the confusing part is if they meant a 500$ rig at the date of release, (at that date mid-range card will max out the game) or a 500$ rig at our date. which obviously i would call a heavy optimization

I really don't understand how the 8400 can run it that well on high. My laptop had problems running the demo on low. Glad I did not buy it.

He's running it at about 10 fps not 20-30. I can do that on my card :D

Besides, if he keeps his card overclocked like that, its bound to choke in less than two months...

i got crysis demo and i play on my 8400m gs on high detail except for objects quality which is set to low. and i get average 5-10 fps. i drove a truck into a corrugated iron shack and blew the whole thing to pieces, barely any lag.
    my specs:
    amd turion 1.9ghz
    2gb ram
    windows xp sp3
    8400m gs NOT overclocked
ill make a youtube video to prove this

No, not at all. Those were the settings I could play it at. I still love my 8400GT, and consider it one of the most under-rated cards out there. But to keep my framerate about 30FPS, I had to turn everything down. I also played in DX10, as DX9 looks like Farcry to me.

Could you post some screenies of DX10 with higher settings? I would actually like to see it, to know if I need to tweak some things.

    Settings:
    DX10
    Textures: medium
    Object detail: medium
    Shadows: low
    Physics: medium
    Shaders: medium
    Game effects: medium
    Water quality: medium

    all at 1024 x 640 with 600\1200\800 oc

Wow, that's really impressive. I could never get that much performance out of my 8400GT. Goes to show the thing is a lot more powerful than people believed.

Is this on Multiplayer? How about single player, same settings? On the screen shots, can you show your framerate?

Seriously Willy, I hope you don't think I would start bashing the 8400GT. I love my new notebook, but that 8400GT was the best OC'ing GPU I have ever owned.

Since we're in an 8400m thread, I can't get the lv2go drivers to work. I've done this a few times on my Inspiron 1520 ... but dunno.

I have the modded inf, I download the driver, extract and put the inf in.

I'm running Vista Business 32bit and I have no need to overclock.

Uninstall the old ones in safe mode, run driversweeper, then reboot and install the new ones either through device manager or run the application in the extracted driver folder.

Not at all. farcry is way too old to even compare to low settings in crysis.

Also, anyone notice he has no way to prove in the video that he is running crysis on an 8400 gs. you never see any proof that he's not using a better card.

I thought of that too. If he would have shown his Nvidia Control Panel or something prooving he had an 8400GS, then it would have been solid evidence.

And no, I don't think Farcry maxed out looks better than Crysis on medium.

I does look smooth down to 10-15 but for crysis to be as responsive as any serious gamer needs it to be you have to have 30+fps. It's usually more in other games..

You can run it low-medium settings at 1024 res.

Specifically i would turn shaders and physics to medium and see if you can bump textures to medium without a performance hit.

Your oc will net you, on average, an extra 5 fps

Willy, I just tried bumping my settings up on my 8400GT in DX10... it runs me around 15FPS average.

Just realized though, if I run DX9 on my 8800m GTS, I can set everything to max at 1280x768, and it looks just as good as DX10. Of course, no AA... but who cares, it's Crysis!

You could of corse just set everything to high and only look at the ground\sky :D
That sounds cool with the 8800 :( I'm gonna build me a desktop for crysis\far cry 2\crysis:warhead and put a few 4870's in it, we'll see who's running it better then *evil laugh*

Alright.. uploading now, give me 5 mins

just a note, this map runs wonderfully, even better than Crysis original maps on med settings in some scenes.

EDIT: and here it goes.. just put the island folder in the levels folder in your Crysis game directory, then when opening the game, bring up console and type :

    Con_restricted 0

    then press enter

    after that type:

    map island

then press enter and then the maps starts loading.

    and here it is

That is a cool map, Brainer. May try downloading it myself.

I do need to try bumping the res up on Crysis, as with 256bit bus I should be able to run at a higher resolution. (I've only tried 1024x768, all high with fantastic results)

just one last thing. when using this map, to get great results. try setting Volumeric and game effects to meduim, so you dont get overkill god rays (well its wonderful, but very unrealistic)
