Note before reading : chance "hxxp" to "http" I'm apparently not aloud to get assistance with my question because I can't post links lol...

I'm rather tech Savy, I have a very nice desktop, I know what Netbook I'm getting and I know what it consists of, my question is really... Is HP lying? xD

    hxxp://bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10114073&catid=27036&PCName=laptop_hp&logon=&langid=EN

I know it will run older games like D2, ect. Hell what can't these days. :p

But I'm looking at the info right from intel and they say it can run things like WAR and WoW? (I play WAR not WoW) but it has my interest...

    hxxp://support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel945gm/sb/CS-021400.htm

I guess I could always look at the benchmarks but I'm going to assume it will install the game but FPS would be shat?

    Regards,

There's a difference between something that CAN run a game, and something that can run a game WELL.
The GMA 950 is a two-generations-old integrated graphics processor that doesn't even have hardware T&L. It CAN run these things, but at very low resolution and detail, and even then at abysmal framerates.
Netbooks are NOT meant for gaming, with the lone exception of the ASUS N10J with the GeForce 9300M GS.

And as for a benchmark like 3DMark06, I believe the factor that even a low-end dedicated card like an 8400M GS beats the GMA 950 by is almost 10.

    Honestly, what are your expectations?

Log in to check the mailbox in WoW? Probably will be painful, but work...
PvP in mass WAR fights? Can you say "slideshow"?

    Frame 1 = spawned
    Frame 2 = dead
    Frame 3 = spawned
    Frame 4 = dead

WAR has slightly heavier requirements... so maybe it loads, but will likely be unplayable for anything PvE or PvP.

I'd say WoW might work for killing boars, but as for killing the super-player-killer, I'd say you are out of luck.

My Sony UX series Vaio has a GMA950 in it. (Google it, neat little device, amazing at work...) TERRIBLE at games. Befoe 3.0.2 Wrath of the Lich King update, it used to get like hmm... 20FPS outside of Shat and in low pop areas with everything on the lowest settings, maybe... 30? WAR I started to install, then realized it was a waste of the precious little HDD space on there and knew that it would run like garbage since in Shat WoW struggled BAD.

Why not try to get a 12" notebook with a x4500MHD or something a bit stronger? Cause sure, you could get it for these two games and yeah, it'll struggle, but if WoW or WAR does another graphics patch... well, you might be SOL.

Edit: I didn't look at your original computer you wanted to buy, but eh, might be worth a shot to look at this

It would fare much better for what you ask of it, though I'm sure other members know other great mini notebooks...

    Or the aforementioned ASUS N10J.
Little more expensive, but you get the power you pay for with that GeForce 9300M GS.
