Please remember to help FPS, be sure to turn off volumetric lighting.
Some tests were done over at www.ocforums.com a while ago and it was apparent at how much of a hit you get from it.
Also, it doesn't really hurt the visuals if you do as well.

And of course, turn off soft shadows as well, as they don't look that good in the first place.![]()

OR you could get a laptop that doesn't have a go 7200 and play it on highest settings.
Or tweak FEAR?

I have played this game on my desktop PC several times. I have used a 7800gtx, a 7900gtx, a 7950gx2, and now I have used my 8800gtx ,and I STILL usually turn off the volumetric lighting because it's almost pointless and causes the FPS to be too erratic.
Sure, I could turn them on and be fine on my desktop, as I often get around 240fps, but I usually don't. -

in multiplayer it is best to play on minimum. Not because of the speed drops, but debris and dust is just making harder to see. And other people see you easier....
Cheers,
Ivan
Those that play F.E.A.R., remember to turn of volumetric lighting to help FPS!
