For all those people with the Gateway FX P-7801u or 7805u, and have Crysis or Crysis Warhead, can you set the game on these settings?

    1280x800
    DirectX10
    Texture: High/Gamer
    Objects: High/Gamer
    Shadows: High/Gamer
    Physics: High/Gamer
    Shaders: Very High/Enthusiast
    Volumetric Effects: High/Gamer
    Game Effects: High/Gamer
    Post Processing: Very High/Enthusiast
    Particles: High/Gamer
    Water Quality: Very High/Enthusiast
    2xAA

and tell me what FPS you get? Additionally what laptops out there can play these settings at 25-30FPS?

If this isn't the right thread could you please move it in which notebook to buy thread?

    Terminus.

Those 2 laptops you just listed will play the game beautifully.

Using a autoexec which has all those settings on by default will most likely give these laptops a 30fps average.

The gateway fx laptops are becoming famous. Go out and get one.

Laptops are no longer push-overs. Gaming laptops are very respectable now. And gaining alot of ground. The clevo d900f is being released with Core i7 and a GTX280 GPU inside.

You can w8 for that if you want.

Yeah, with a custom autoexec you can get around 25-30 fps in Crysis, although in 1280x800 resolution (Crysis is very demanding at high resolutions). Also I wouldn't recomend using much AA.

If you're gonna use that low of resolution, I HIGHLY recommend disabling scaling, the game is no where near as pretty at low resolution. I personally own the P-7811 FX, which is exactly the same but with only 512mb of memory, rather than 1gb. I run at 1440 x 900 with a custom configuration, looks pretty good, probably about as good as the graphics on the "gamer" setting.

Hnim you should be able to do 1440 900 with CCC lvl5. Try it.

yea, I even heard the Asus W90 is getting the CrossfireX ATI Mobility HD 4780X2!!!
but I'm not getting these ones since they will cost soo much...

I was just worried since I thought he Very High/ Enthusiast settings on shader and post processing would kill the FPS. I took a look at the CCC and it seems pretty awesome! I have some questions though:
-do the custom settings include motion blur?
    -are the level 1-5 pre-set?
-what are the major differances between normal settings to CCC levels?

p.s. what do you think would run Crysis better? MSI GT725 or Gateway FX P-7801u?

They should run at about the same. If you were to upgrade the CPU on the FX P7801u you should be able to get better performance than the MSI GT725.

Since the GateWay FX 7801u is a great bang for your buck Gaming laptop i reccomend it. Though you should try to get the 7805u with the 1440 900 screen. The reason for this is because 1440 900 will look better if it is the native res rather than trying to stretch it on a 1920 1200 screen.

And you will not be able to run CCC lvl5 on the game if you try to run it at 1920 1200. So i say get the 1440 900 screen.

As for the CCC settings versus the normal "vanilla" settings, well here is my take on it.

    8800m GTS OC with T9300

    CCC lvl3=High: 35FPS avg.
CCC lvl4=High+ : 30FPS avg. (i use this setting, i can play at 30FPS avg.)

    This is for Crysis 1
    I don't have results for

For Warhead i use CCC lvl5 since i get 35FPS in that game using that setting. It looks a thousand times better than enthusiast and runs about 5 or more Frames Per Second faster.

That should answer all your questions.

yes and it's extremely easy, go to the gateway section and look it up there is a TON of info for you to learn all about this laptop, including limitations of your cpu swap, 6860, 7811, 7801, 7805 are all very close to the same when it comes to most of the upgrades you can do.

o ok thanks! I know I will play Crysis at 1280x800 resolution (the res I used to play HL2, Doom 3, etc. on my old comp.) Regarding the MSI GT725, I heard the ATI Mobility HD 4850 will be a beast of a GPU (same as 9800m GTX) and it has turbo mode which OC the CPU.

-I will defenitley download the CCC mod, it sounds great! I just hope it's easy to implement...but will it work with ATI cards just as well?

-Additionally how do I OC my GPU?

(I might get the 1920x1200 version since I also want to play some "less intensive" games at that resolution).
