Thoughts on Tom Clancy's EndWar?

Forgot I pre-ordered EndWar and HAWX from Steam. Must have been a while back in a drunken stupor

Either way, I downloaded and played a bit. Kind of like a vanilla RTS with no resource management. It's one big deal is voice commands. It's recognition is very good, but until you learn all the commands you talk like a robot. But then you just speak what you want and it goes!

Anyone else play on console or get very far on PC version yet? Is it worth playing through?

 

The trailer looked cool...but I don't think it blew away reviewers when it launched on the 360 way back when anyway. I just don't see an RTS as part of the Tom Clancy lineup.

 

I thought the trailer was pathetic, i didnt even know what genre it was till i saw a bunch of soldiers running around and shooting a tank, then i thought only an rts had stupid game mechanics like that.

I read its wikipedia article and the story is really good, and it will be novelised.

 

I'm still waiting on Hawx but I'm not too impressed as I'm a avid "Company of Heroes" player.

 

Does it play like World in Conflict (no resource gathering/management?).

 

i was thinking of getting it for ps3 but i don't have a headset yet and i don't want to get the official sony one

 

Hey, just a heads up and might be worth checking out, but I was in Target a couple days ago and they had the PS3 version on clearance for $14.99. It wasn't the version with the headset, but still, thought that was cheap.

 

Hi htwingnut, have you put the game on your Gateway? It would be cool if you could describe what kind of settings you're running at.

 

I got EndWar Collector's Edition over here with the headset bundled with it. Was excited about the voice system and the gameplay.

I played about 20 minutes before I put Cod4 back into my PS3.

 

Yeah the story (more like a premise) is just about the only thing I like about EndWar. If anyone has played through the game, does it deliver much in that regard? Cutscenes, cinematics etc?

 

+1 except it was resistance 2 i put back in the ps3.

 

so how does this compare to say Halo Wars?

 

IMHO halo wars blows endwar out of the water. endwar is limited to a third person over the shoulder view unless you use the command center SITREP which is a 2d top down view where the units/enemies are dots.whereas halo wars is more traditional with a top down view of the battlefield.

 

Yeah i just checked vids end war doesnt seem to special.
