Good deals are ok, I don't mind if it is not top price, I can try something and if I don't like it,I don't feel ripped off.
Like BF4, I would of been very upset if I would of paid full price.
I got 3 games in a package for 4.50 euro, (not BF4)can't go wrong for that price.

Steam downloaded Badlands 2 last week, for a limited time playable demo.
I played it for a couple of hours, not a bad game, but there are to many similar games out there.
I won't be buying it unless it appears on a cheap special offer.
At the moment i'm playing Spec Ops, and Dirt 3, both are good and I can recommend them.
BF4 is just sitting there doing nothing, sorry to say I don't like it at all.
I have bought a new Samsung SSD and will try BF4 again when I have installed it,to see if it runs better. -

Some great free games are Renegade X, the one that will be released on the 26th of Feb (Beta) and Tiberian Sun Reborn. If you are a fan of the Command & Conquer universe, those are must haves. Also you might want to get hold of Battlefield 2 and mods.
There are some great older games complete with Mods. I also recommend Cnc3 with mods. -
Playing the original Quake with the Epsilon build now, it is awesome! This website tells you how to install it and also supports the expansion packs and user-made campaigns: Quake "Epsilon" Builds for Windows/Mac/Linux

It's really hard to recommend games without knowing what type of game you are into. Given the ones you mentioned in the first post, I'll assume first-person combat. In which case my recommendation is Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Great first-person combat, and much more satisfying than shooters IMO. Instead of being dead the instant someone sees you, you have actual combat with hand-to-hand weapons, in a battle of skill and wits (unless someone picks you off with a crossbow, of course). It's even fun just watching good players duel occasionally. And sometimes you even get good teamwork.
Personally, I don't get what the big deal over Call of Duty, and to a lesser extent Battlefield is these days. Sure, Call of Duty 4 was widely praised. But the newer versions are essentially updates with fancier graphics. What do you really get from buying into Activision's yearly upgrade cycle? I haven't spent the dosh to buy a new version since Modern Warfare, but as I understand it the basic gameplay is very similar today. It was a fun game for its time, I just don't get the point of upgrading every year and spending additional money on hardware to always be able to play the latest and greatest. There's so many other games out there that will provide a wider variety of experience.Akimitsui likes this. -
You can also try out the original game, Age of Chivalry, for free on steam. It's an old Half Life 2 mod, but it is still a blast to play, but the sequel blows it away. -
I for one am just sick of games with lengthy cinematics. I almost get turned off when I see a game preview and it's 90% cinematics and little to no game play shown...
a good game has some, but not where it over takes the game... sorta like Skyrim... there needs to be freedom of movement, and good AI (skyrim lacked in the later). -
I tried Age of Chivalry after Chivalry itself, and it was a letdown. But that probably was inevitable. If I'd tried it first, it may well have been quite fun. -
I bought Sleeping Dogs last weekend, when it was on sale.
So far I have no complaints. -
