So on my old computer, I bought TQ and TQ:IT off steam. It was a nightmare to get running. Between missing game files and other issues Steam caused, I nearly asked for my money back. Eventually I was able to get the files (and get IT to finish downloading) and the game ran fine.

So now I got my new PC running Vista Business x64 and I cannot get TQ or TQ:IT to run at all. It sits at the little green Steam windows saying launching game or preparing to launch game. I've read several other people having issues and some under Vista 64 who have gotten it to work.

I've completely uninstalled Steam (which sucks...) and decided to run it under as admin this time. So I'm re-downloading to see if this will fix it. But I don' think it will...

anyone else have issues trying to get this game to run from steam? People who own the actual retail box say they've had no problems... but a ton of steam users say they run into a multitude of issues.

And yes, I have updated drivers.

I dont know about 64bit vista, but the game is running fine on my 32bit vista basic. when you run it, set the compatibility to xp

I've tried setting both Steam and TQ to run in XP SP2 compatibility mode.

Are you running it through Steam? Or do you have retail install?

I bought the retail version of Titan Quest and had no problems with it on Vista Home Premium x64 or Vista Ultimate x64.

This wouldn't be the first time someone's had issues with the Steam version of a game, though; I have Far Cry on Steam and it has horrible load times, assuming it will run at all.

It works fine for me. Although I can't really tell you my "secret" because it's worked from the beginning.

Yeah Pulp... wish I would have gotten retail.

    BTW, got it to work!

It appears that Steam needs to be run in Admin mode. I didn't have to set TQ to run under XP mode either. Just running under admin worked fine :-D

Though I have yet to install the IT expansion.

your missing a lot of good graphical imagery and useable items just running TQ. do yourself a favor and install the IT expansion as soon as you can then download the single most important mod.......TQ Vault. you can store so much loot its not funny.

i am going to install the expansion on my laptop tomorrow. i have both on my gaming pc. it's a little tough getting used to this 15.4 widescreen coming from a 24 inch wide flat panel. i keep running the mouse off of the screen lol.

Thanks for mentioning TQ Vault. I picked it up and played with it a little last night. But the expansion worked fine after I downloaded and reinstalled it.

It's too bad the Steam backup didn't work! I don't have any of my saved games, and I was almost at the end of TQ!

Anyone know of any good item generators?
I put so much time into my other two toons, I don't want to go through hunting and farming good items. I don't want to go crazy and make my guys insanely OP, I just want some decent items.
I've got the Vault mod setup, but was wondering if anything can interact with it and let me drop items into the vault.

I'm going with a harbinger (dream/warfare) build but he's so weak in the beginning. I picked up DW but it sucks so far (lvl 9 right now).

i don't know of any but if you check their forum you will probably find an answer there. i know that you tend to accumulate a lot of stuff during early play and i have since gotten rid of all my stuff from all my characters into the vault. i just made seperate folders for armor and weapons and artifacts. now all my characters share whats in there.

too bad you have to exit the game to use it though. it is only a minor annoyance from an otherwise very useful mod.
