There seems to be a lot of discussion about the game, but there is no real thread dedicated to it, so why not start now? :D

Here is some leaked Alpha footage of the game on the Xbox One, watch it while you can before it gets taken down:

*It's all on DailyMotion and for some reason the videos wont display in the post*

So, what are all of your opinions?

    EA GAMES!

On the serious note though, if Respawn actually took their time with Titanfall (fix bug, working game, etc), this is going to be THE revolutionary shooter just like COD4

I'm going to hold of preordering though

i saw this on pcgamer. it looks like future call of duty. the ai seems dumb. they just stood there while the player in the titan shoots at them. personally i think thats no fun. ai seems to just run aimlessly with no regard for themselves. almost intentionally running into the enemy. i like how you dont have to get into a titan. you just set it to auto pilot and have it follow you around. also it looks like the titans are not too overpowered. infantry units can 'kill' a titan with their gun. overall, it looks fun.

Revolutionary? Not really, its not the first time we've seen military infantry + gundam/matrix robots warfare, plenty of PC games that were like that already. It won't be as revolutionary as BF3&4 was and their frostbite engine. I doubt graphics will be much more spectacular than COD standards, even if Respawn won't half a$$ the PC version like Ghosts did.

I'm more looking forward to BattleFront 3, Star Wars + Frostbite engine, now that's revolutionary. Lets just hope EA is tired of getting lawsuits and stop ruining the reputation and capabilities of Dice.

I think it looks very promising. Maybe a tad too intense for me, I prefer the likes of Planetside and Battlefield.

Here are some more (old) info, just to have it in one place:

I wouldn't say we've seen plenty of games like that. The only ones I can think of are G-Nome and Shogo Mobile Armor Division, and I'm pretty sure you couldn't jump in and out of your mech in Shogo.

That is correct. It was either battle on foot or in the robot depending on what level you were playing.

There has also been Battlefield: 2142. However, this type of gameplay with Mechs, "pilots" with jetpacks, a blend of singleplayer elements, cannon-fodder AI infantry, COD-style run and gunning - all of this is basically a blend of all the things that make FPS's so fun to play. Sure, we have seen games of similar type to this before, but nothing that really blends everything together in this way.

What I would have liked to see added to the single-player element was the inclusion of a map that shows which group controls what territory, and you can click on a territory to join a game in there and the victories/losses determine who controls that territory. Obviously there would need to be may matches running on a certain territory, but if done right it would work, and once a group takes over the entire map then the territories reset. That would add in so much more depth into this, because I fear that the single player elements already added may become old and repetitive after a while (hearing the exact same orders over and over, etc).... but I'm probably just being too ambitious lol.

As long as EA's only influence is Origin only, then Titanfall's got a good shot. Only other issue that seems to be getting up some people's craw is 6v6.

Why do people keep ripping on EA? What have they done in the past to mess up titles?

Legitimately curious because I haven't heard this criticism before.

    EA’s Top 4 SCREW UPS of 2013 - GamingGamers.net

EA Voted Worst Company in America, Again - Forbes

    EA Forums

Why People Hate EA? Ten Simple Reasons

My two personal favourite things that EA has done lately.... take out the ending of the game and release it as a DLC, even though that content should have been in the game to begin with. Take Dead Space 3 for example, it was an awesome game and I loved it, but the ending was cut short and I had to pay an extra $15 on top of the $60 base game to get to see the real ending, which only took about 50 minutes to complete for me.... why EA why?!?

Then Mass Effect 3, you beat the game and get that horrible ending, which really ruins the entire amazing game because now all I can remember is that shoddy ending.... and you get a pop-up that you can buy day 1 dlc that will continue the story that is essential to the game.... which yet again was $15 on top of the $60..... nty EA, I'll just wait for modders to give us the real ending that we deserve (which they have done already).

In fairness, the Mass Effect DLC wasn't day 1 DLC. That was the real ending, and then people got mad and they realized that it sucked, so they put together something that attempted to actually resolve the storyline.

There will not be pure single player because they want to blend single player elements and multi player elements into one.

They might later on, but right now it think that's it's best for the entire team to just be solely focusing on the multiplayer aspect of the game. They have the resources and manpower to pull off a great game by doing this, hopefully that's how it turns out.

Aim assist with controllers is not a new thing. If they were doing aim assist with KB/M that would be lame.

Either way, those controller users are going to still be destroyed using the controller, even with their aim assist. Mouse+Keyboard offers the most precision and accuracy better than any controller can dream of doing, so unless someone is utterly horrible using a mouse+keyboard (such as console gamers), then I see no reason to play this on pc with the controller, you will probably be stuck just being support and killing the AI that way.

Beta is set to release on February 14th, apparently to rumors flying around the net. Hopefully it's a fully open beta and not some "pre-order to try" nonsense.

I had high hopes for Titanfall. But it's looking like a watered down console wannabe port. And with no single player, which I could see all sorts of possibilities, it's not worth the full price of admission IMHO. I'll pick it up likely when it goes on sale half off if it has any legs at that time.

They should have a separate server for the folks with controllers and call it "kindergarten". The KBM servers can be the big boy servers.

It's EA we're talking about, as the publisher at least. If there's anything they learnt from BF4 it's that people will still buy their products no matter how broken it is. They have made and still continue to make loads of money off BF4.
