I made a backup image of the Tom Clancy Las Vegas using Alcohol 120% mdf/mds; since i don't like carrying the original media around. Problem is, whenever i load the game with Daemon tools, it ran fine up to the main screen. When i click start new game, it automatically crashes to the desktop. Best part is i had let the game's autoupdate patch the game. What should i do? I definitely rule out using my discs as i will not be bringing them with me. Unless in really extreme circumstances....but i still don't like the idea of bringing my disc around.

    Help!

Guys? Does this contribute to the crash?
It can't detect the CPU. Even with the disc installation. (i just did a complete reinstall of the game).

The CPU thing isn't the problem. Most notebook processors throttle their speeds when no demanding programs are running to save power. So Vagas "thinks" that you only have a 700mhz or so proc. But that shouldn't have anything to do with your crash.

... ok well this thread seems borderline illegal but I'll pitch in. RS6 Vegas uses Securom which is a form of copyright protection. Everytime the game boots up it will check the disc for special sectors written on the disc. What you need is either a no-dvd crack for the game or a blacklisting utility that can block securom from detecting disc emulation... which is illegal when you use them to run any commercial software!

Erm, guys im really sorry if it seems illegal to you. Very sorry. Because i'm a person who dislikes having to bring a couple of CDs to game, and also i have a huge hard disk space, so having an image is better then carry the discs.

Anyway, the cloned images finally worked. How? By not letting it update. Using the CD and update to play was playable, but when i switched to the clones, all hell went loose (post #1)

I totally agree that it is nice to have the games on the HD, but the game industry doesn't think so. Still, I guess it is not illegal if you bought the original. You need a No-CD/DVD crack to play it without the DVD. I'm sure you can find that via any P2P software. You'll probably have to replace a couple of files in the game directory.
