not too many resources, more that if you only have a small clump of trees, you can only get 3 guys cutting timber. whereas, i want to stick 20 guys on it cut all the timber and then move on. then there is only 5 farms to a town centre, where is the reasoning in that????? the whole mountain mining thing was good though.
going across 4000 years in history in an hour is too short. you only get a brief experience of each age. consider the atomic ages in EE, you have maybe 30 different units. how many do you have in RoN? maybe 15 - 20?

its completely an economic based rts game. theres some combat, like you get to kill off stereotypical foreigners and take over their land, lol. but its not truly a developed combat game. The point is to the rule the world by owning all of the trading ports and supplying all the necessities- like alcohol, tobacco, gold, oil, food, jade elephants (lol), etc. Its completely addictive- at least for me. I'm totally into it. I reserve my xbox for all the hardcore killing games
However, Spore will be played on my computer eventually, when the time comes!

Diablo 2 needs to be on here more...it saved me from sports and friendship and countless hours of my childhood. But do I regret it? not at all!
1. Diablo 2
2. Jet Slalom ( http://ww2.freearcade.com/Jetslalom.jav/Jetslalom.html)
3. Age of Empires
4. BF2
5. Halo:CE
...and thats about it. -
OHH, I've been wanting to get this game for a while but haven't really done so.. what does everyone think about Company of Heroes? -
I haven't actually played Starcraft, but yes, I don't think I'd enjoy it very much. I've played Empire Earth and the later space ages were my least favorite stages of the game. -

why is my question being avoided?
ehem.. spore release date anyone? or shall i stop being completely lazy and look it up myself? fine, fine, i get the point!
-
oh, its been put back so many times i'm not sure. march next year was the last i heard.
-
OP has told me the following info: "EA CEO John Riccitiello and EA Games Chief Frank Gibeau have confirmed that spore will be available in either March, April or May of 2008." (xspore.com, 8/2/07)
In return, OP said he wanted 'that spore lady to stop with the ?!@#$! questions already', or something like that... -
-
-
^^^ And EA's reality dictates that it will be Sept rather than May.
Of course if it were Blizzard, it would be March... of '09. Not that I'd be complaining about a Blizzard product, homer that I am. -
but that doesn't mean i'm smiling! Just pretend I'm frowning in my avatar! (jk)
-
lol
-
I'm sorry folks, just a bit punchy tonight, too much punch in my punch... that or it's superultra late.
-
Just an overall
-
1. Starcraft, I actually got fat playing this game - luckily I lost the weight lol, was once nr. 126 on the Ladder
2. Diablo 2 (not LoD - I thought LoD was broken) - Every six months I come back to this game - discover that Blizzard deleted my lvl 70 chars account, throw around some molotovs and return to building up my characters to lvl 70 again.
3. Baldurs Gate II - I don't know why maybe because in typical geek fashion I played RPG's such as Dungeons and Dragons and Fading Suns and with DnD our preferred setting was Forgotten Realms.
4. CounterStrike - So bad and annoying, but so addicting...
5. Black & White - Who doesn't love god games?
6. Half-Life
7. Tiberian Sun
8. Neverwinter Nights (Baldurs Gate FTW!!! - although its unfair that I include two of the series here...)
9. Rollercoaster Tycoon - Need I say more?
10. Star Trek: Bridge Commander. This is by far the best Trek game so far, not even Armada I comes close to it, and not for the original game, but the mods - where else can you find trek ships as beautiful as these?
-
^^^ Pretty... colors... let me gues: Star Trek fan??!? To answer your question: What about Star Trek: Legacy? It seems like that game would have everything, though I have not seen or played it.
Nice list. RCT over RCT 3? And, NWN isn't actually a part of the BG series, so it's fine. Even if it were, it'd be fine as well. -
phritz, that just took about 10 minutes to load
but i have to admit, it does look pretty awesome.
-
Are those in game shots?? I played that about a year ago and dont remember the graphics being that good. Is that maxed out? I think I may have to load that up when my Vostro 1500 arrives

The problem with Star Trek: Legacy is that it was completely rushed for the 40th anniversary just for marketing, as such it had to patched on the release date and there was no attention to detail, in fact it was a huge dissapointment, it was basically just a port from the XBox 360 version and the controls were just mapped to the keyboard, it plays ok, the graphics are ok, although I think the perspective effects are a bit too much (a lot of stretching going on there). If Bethseda wanted to make a good Trek game that people would buy they'd have delayed and deleted the pictures of the producer guy with a goat :/
Its so bad that no-one has even bothered to port the high poly - high texture models to Legacy from BC, at which some of the Legacy players are groaning about but us old schools peeps will keep our 17,000 poly, 250mb textured ships (The High quality version of that sovereign is more than 200mb in textures, although the standard is a toned down 100 lol, the Galaxy is 90mb of textures forgot the polycount, that constitution is 140mb, you see how Trek fen pay attention to detail, we're barely even satisfied with 150mb of textures and a 17,000 poly ship) As soon as Legacy came out all the Bridge Commander players switched to waiting in anticipation of the Kobayashi Maru 1.0 mod, which came out a few weeks ago

I am going to have to get a laptop soon for when I move. Space will be at a premium so have to opt for a laptop. Am holding off as long as I can though because I don't want to be forced to buy before the 8800 laptop gfx cards arrive. Will begrudgingly opt for Vista too - though am sure worried about it's compatibility with some of my fave titles. Has anyone played any of the above games on my list on Vista, do they work ok?
Thanks, Wayne -
