Ok, I just got my new Vostro 1500 yesterday and I wanted to know what games I should get. I play all kinds from fps to rts to rgp(mmo included). I already have HL2 and plan to get Orange Box(I'll transfer my old HL2 key to a friend). What other games should I try? Thanks.

I'm assuming you're looking for newer games:
Bioshock,
Battlefield 2 or 2142,
Oblivion,
Civ4
WoW -
Yeah, I'm looking at mostly newer games. I was thinking Bioshock already. Oblivion I've played before on PC and Xbox360. Same for WoW and I'm not going back to that. BF2/2142 and Civ4 may interest me. Any new games coming out that is co-op multi-player? I do prefer online play to single play. Thanks.
-
I will recommend company of heroes and its series for RTS and medal of honor : airborne for FPS(i really love the weapon lvling system).
2 WWII games, oh well. -
2 moons , audition , maplestory , flyff , warrock , soldierfront , battlefield 2 , silkroad online , natural section , day of defeat , war of warcraft 3 for dota , starcraft , diablo 2 and etc
-
Wow, thats a whole sink load there......Maplestory? My 6 year old kid plays that on his desktop.
-
He listed many older games there. I'll agree with him on all the Blizzard titles. All great games if you haven't played them yet (StarCraft, Diablo and WarCraft series).
Also, be on the lookout for StarCraft 2. No idea when it'll be released but it's one of the games I look forward to.
Another game I'm looking forward too is Spore (should come out sometimes next year).
As for newer games with online co-op play, I can't think of anything right now. -
RTS:Company of Heroes Opposing Front(will be released on 28th),Medieval 2 Total War,AoE III,(Don't buy World in Conflict,it's all hype and nothing more, very overrated)
FPS/ACTION:Bioshock,STALKER,FEAR,HL2 -
lost planet is pretty cool, blizzard games are all very nice too, exept i dislike wow, COD2 is really good too, and FEAR
-
dont listen to miladesn, world in conflict it awesome, i find tehcing up anoyying sometimes and theres none of that in this game, apparently very good multiplayer online as well.
-
World In Conflict is brilliant if you like the control style of RTSs and the spontaneity of FPSs. Great fun when you get in a good team, too.
Company Of Heroes is highly recommended as well - it's the best of basically traditional RTS games imho. -
I'd say if you are a huge competitive multiplayer gamer, don't bother with all the FPS games except for CS Source, and wait for Team Fortress 2, which will be the next big thing replacing essentially all the other FPS games.
Starcraft 2 is another big one, as well as Bioshock.
Those are the GOOD games that will last for a while. All the other titles will fade away or are fading away if not already obsolete.
Go to http://www.xfire.com/cms/stats/ to find out the top 10 games for each genre, so you can make better decisions.
Cheers -
Thanks man! That's just what I'm looking for. Games I can get with lots of replay value. I heard that Bioshock has a wonderful single player mode but haven't heard anything about it's multi-player(might get it anyway). I already plan to the OrangeBox so I'll have TF2 also. Actually I might do that tonight from Steam. I wanted to get the box with the cds but I can't even find my old HL2 box/cds so why bother? I still play games like SC and waiting for SC2. I heard that Left4Dead might be the next big thing too. -
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
Shadowrun is fun (online only, you need vista and xbox live tho)
Crysis -
HELLGATE: LONDON
From the creators of Diablo 2. It has a FPS element but mainly RPG driven. It will have online play which I'm sure if they havn't lost their touch will be just as great as D2. Years after D2 was made people are still playing it online. The singleplayer is bound to be AWSOME as well.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Doom 3??

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
THE ORANGE BOX!!
Can't stop playing team fortress two. I'm addicted. Its a great looking game and easily becoming my favorite multiplayer game of all time. I also didn't get a chance to play half life 2 epsiode 1 so enjoying that too. I love this deal, while I played half life 2, I got 4 games for 45 bucks. -
bioshock, doom 3, quake 4, oblivion

DEFINITELY Battlefield 2 and 2142. Mostly 2142 though. It's more fun than BF 2, and the maps are bigger, and more teamwork is involved. The game engine is smoother too, and the graphics are slightly better in 2142.

Crysis FTW!!

If you haven't played them already, I can not suggest strongly enough that your try out Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel. They're Star Wars RPG's and while they're not the newest games, their graphics are still good. Furthermore, they have excellent game play and a brilliant story.
And should you happen to be a Star Wars fan multiply what I said above by 10. You really can't go wrong with Kotor. -
Forgot to mention Settlers 6 that just came out today
-
I agree with hellgate london, its awesome

Hellgate London looks kinda boring to me, I think its all hype.
The FMV's look great but the ingame footage even just 1 or 2 minutes of it looks like the same crap over and over.
I say BF2142 is a must, its a great game and not too demanding on systems with current hardware. Bioshock is fun but short and doesnt have much replay after a few times thru. However its nice to have a 1 player game for when you dont have a internet connection.
I honestly am going back to the classics. I have a Playstation emulator and a super nintendo emulator and over 1000 games to play
I have to make sure to go back and play
Final Fantasy 3 (6)
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Legend of Zelda a link to the past
Seikendensetsu 3 (secret of mana 2)
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy Tactics
XenoGears
Oh been playing Killer Instinct 2 for the arcade, and getting a few other games like Die Hard Arcade, Area 51, Tekken 3, Mortal Kombat 3.
and a few other old system titles that run perfectly on the computer.
For new stuff I play O2Jam alot to kill time its a free game to download and play. (think ddr but for the computer I suppose), Portals is going to be great when it comes out and the new HL game should be great too.
Crysis should be another great title, and Unreal 3 when it comes out and Starcraft 2 when it comes out.
Oh wich reminds me Warcraft 3 is a great game with alot of replay, tons of custom games online with battle net that expand the game into a slew of other games. -
I have just about all the MAME titles, NES, SNES, N64, SEGA, TGFX16, NEOGEO roms. I'm running on a older P4 1.7 running PCLinuxOS 2007. Loving it! Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana are classic RPG.

Company of Heroes and command and conquer. The only RTS that I used to play was C&C (the older ones), but when I discovered CoH, it was love at first glance
. You can also take a look at SW: empire at war (AT-AT ftw!).
FEAR, Far cry, Call of Duty (I just played the first). These are old games, but they are very good. Battlefield 2 is good and funny too.
Star wars knights of the old republic (only the first, because the second is 'incomplete'), Fable, Vampire: Bloodlines (gotta love those crazy malkavians).
One game that I can't wait to play: Crazy machines 2 (LOL), I really want to see the in game physics.
cheers. -
