I can't believe there's no thread for this. Is anyone else out there looking forward to this game besides me?

Anyway, I started this thread because I can finally feel that the launch date is coming. Since pretty much all games launch on a Tuesday, and Runic Games is still targeting "before the end of summer" which is September 21st, there are only 5 viable dates left to go!

It's not going to be tomorrow or in two weeks, so my guess will have to be September 11 or 18, unless there's going to be a delay. Hopefully I'm wrong and it comes out sooner, though.

I can't wait to finally do a hack and slash that's worth getting addicted to!

Baka didn't really play much of the first one but Baka heard many great things about Torchlight 2 just from the beta so Baka will be looking forward to it ._.

A Runic staff member mentioned completing the polish for Act 2 and is helping another member with polishing Act 3. After that, they're moving on to Act 4 which is the shortest of all 4 acts. That being said, at their current rate, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was released in about 3 weeks or so.

Yeah, this was the last news I heard. Firs that it's about 4x bigger than the original Torchlight and that they signed off on act 2 of the game. I've been craving for this game for a long time. I really can't wait to get (moderately-)addicted to an ARPG again.

I've played the leaked beta and I liked the atmosphere and the little extra touches in the game better than Diablo III, so I'm definitely looking forward to it as well. We already have a 4-pack pre-order with my friends :p .

Loved the first one though I only put in about 10 hours into it. I was REALLY hoping it would release during the June/July months so I could play that until GW2 comes out, but alas, that didn't happen :)

I've never played the Diablo series or any other dungeon crawler, but if it's a better game than the first one was, I'll be very happy with my $20.00 purchase.

I got really far in the first one, but I'm not much of a solo player. I prefer playing with friends. The second one will be so much better than the first and this is not hype, it's better on paper, from beta feedback, and everything single aspect any way you want to slice it.

I was daydreaming the other day that this turned out to be vaporware. Lol. A lot of gaming sites are saying it's close to finishing though and some are even making predictions when the launch date will be announced.

    For me its Borderlands 2 > Torchlight 2 > Guild Wars 2.
All of them are preordered so i got my share of entertainment set up. :)

Already have Torchlight 2 preordered since a while back, so yeah, I share the enthusiasm as well, of course :D
Diablo 3 is OK for social gaming, but it's boring and extremely shallow in singleplayer, as the only thing that is actually unique from one character to the next is mainly the loot. I can't wait for a real H&S to sink my teeth into.

Have Borderlands 2 preordered as well, so no problem there, either. I liked the first quite a bit, although I was really lousy at it ;)

Guild Wars 2, though...I have a general problem with MMOs, so I'll wait for the reviews first.

There are chatters that TL2's launch will be on the day of the announcement at PAX --that's tomorrow. Tonight though, Travis will announce that date confirming or debunking those rumors over at the Runic forums.

If Runic pulls a fast one on us all and does release it tomorrow, that would be so sweet! I was expecting a later date but before Borderlands 2. Here's to hoping it is indeed tomorrow.

Runic forums just went down. LOL. The anticipation among fans brought their forums down.

    It's official.

The bad news is that the launch date it not tomorrow. The good news is that we know when the launch date is... SOOO FAR AWAY! 3 WEEKS! :(

I can deal w/ 3 weeks. TL is one of my go-to games when I cant get on the internet. This one will hit shortly before I spend a couple weeks in transit (plus likely another couple weeks waiting for time warner to get me reconnected).

(I've been resisting getting GW2 and BL2 just so I can focus all my free time on TL2.)

Which character and pet are you guys rolling with right off the bat?

I think I'll take the Engineer, he seems the most interesting class to play for me, since I don't like fragile ranged characters too much in hack and slash games.

But I couldn't resist Borderlands 2. Really, REALLY bad move to release Torchlight 2 on a similar date (and if the Borderlands 2's guys chose this date because of Torchlight 2 then this is just general douchbaggery on their part).

As it stands now, I'm afraid I'll only be playing Torchlight 2 in breaks from Borderlands, if at all in the near future :(

Couldn't agree with you more. I wish they released it sooner rather than two days later. Usually it's Tuesdays, but when there is conflict the one giving way comes out Thursday.

Also, I'm pretty sure there are unwritten rules between game devs, one of which is to not sh*t on each others' release dates. It's one of those etiquette things devs in general go by because they already have piracy (usually) as a problem among other things, so competing over a fanbase that could easily buy both games is really unnecessary. Having said that, I don't think BL2 did that to TL2. Way before Runic announced that the launch date will be announce at PAX Prime, BL2 already had ads made to be placed on NYC public transportation (MTA), such as buses.

Anyway, I managed to resist buying GW2 and BL2 despite my friends doing their best to tempt me. It's not so much as the money I'd have to spend as being conflicted choosing which games to play. Lol. I'm determined to focus all of the little free time I have on TL2.

Also, I plan to roll with either the embermage or the berserker. I'm a caster-type of player whether RPG or MMO, but engineer is definitely one of the classes I'm eying to roll next. Everyone is clamoring for it on elite level. They say that the pet plus followers/summons make it the most intriguing class to play in any ARPG. In fact, the majority of Runic HQ prefers it.

Indeed, if you have only a little free time, then I think Torchlight is the right choice, since Borderlands is a huge, full fledged time sinker.

As for me, I hate FPS games with a vengeance, so I was very surprised at how much fun I had with the first Borderlands. It was Diablo in FPS form, and I liked almost everything in that game. Well, maybe except Claptrap, I hated that unfunny, annoying, impossible-to-skip robot sidekick. I loathe that little thing so much that I think I'll give Torchlight 2 an hour for every minute he'll show up on the screen :D

And regarding the Engineer class, I'm glad it is so popular and different, now I know I'll pick that class for sure, thanks for the heads up.

I've been trying REALLY hard not to watch Youtube vids about the game. Think the only one I've watched was one of a guy playing the Beta (last year? I forget) and from then on I knew I HAD to buy it.

And although I've never played a Diablo game, one thing I've loved about Torchlight (and will love with TL2) is that you can play it offline. Such a great feature, especially for this kind of genre where you can just hop in and out, completing quests, killing things, looting things etc. whenever you feel like for however long you wish to play.

It's the way it should be for this kind of game.

Never played TL, but I really liked diablo 1 and diablo 2. Hated diablo 3 for a lot of reasons, so I'll buying TL 2 since it seems to be more like what D3 should have been.
