ONE MORE DAY! ONE MORE DAY!
Can't wait!
-
I wanna get it... I'm just trying to wrap my head around the "cartoon" feel that it gives me from watching videos of the game play.
-
-
The first one was very "cartoonish"...but with blood
-
"Cartoony" is what everyone says when they're judging the book by its cover, from way over there ---------------------------------------------------//---------------------------->
Awesome is what everyone calls it as soon as they step into the world of Torchlight.
Torchlight II: The Kotaku Review -
Speaking of which, who else here waited until midnight last night and got nothing?! I'm about to go ape sh*t over here. It's the 20th and I'm without my TL2.
EDIT: I've been slacking. I should have checked first. As of this post, the game is supposed to be released in about 5 hours (1PM EST). -
My own original meme for TL2...
-
30 more minutes!!!
Update: The servers are DYING! Lol. -
-
I assume everyone is playing Torchlight II right now rather than sharing their first thoughts?
*EDIT* Downloading Torchlight II and Borderlands 2 right now -
-
-
The thing with Torchlight though was that it was a straight forward game so the graphics was right smack in my face and I noticed it each time I played. With Torchlight II however, it's so fast-paced that I don't have time to walk around and admire/criticize the way the game looks. I just know it's a cave and a sh*tload of monsters are coming out of it. And when I say fast-paced, I mean the mob comes at you fast, hard and in bunches. Dare I say there's too much action, way too much loot, and too much... fun? But hey, I'm that type of ARPG guy who won't ever complain about "too much" as long as it's too much of a good thing, in my book. -
*EDIT* After playing, I've made my own review: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...285-torchlight-2-review-first-impression.html
-
-
I've played through the first act today and I must say that the game is pretty good. Better than the first part for sure. What makes me wonder is the quality of online play and co-op, as well as random level generator.
-
I've been playing with the engineer, just a few quests, definitely a bigger scale than the first.
Lots of nice loot right away.
Seems like my char build will be some kind of tankish robo minion master. Still level 10 though.
Really fun so far. -
I'm getting a lot of loot and okay drops for my level but from what I've noticed, although the drops are indeed abundant, they're not all OP or at least not for my class and specific build. I'm almost level 20 (it was very hard to find some playing time yesterday --my kids are sick), but it says in my stats that my average gear level is only 9. So while some might say there's too much loot, it's still quite balanced. And because of that I haven't switched gears left and right like some reviewers claimed. I've thought about gambling and upgrading my gear through NPCs, but I've decided to hold off and wait for godly loot before I try that. In the meantime, I'm just saving up money. I also plan to play the game in its entirety without using mods or hacks. Once I've seen it all only will I dabble on mods.
So far this game is awesome.
The servers have also began to stabilize. I was able to make my game account early this morning. -
Played it for a couple hours last night and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Like I said, I was a huge D2 LOD fan, and I have to say I'm liking this a lot than Diablo 3. I've only played single player Veteran, so far since there were problems with Runic's account sign-up yesterday.
I also thought the graphics were a little "cartoonish" when I saw screenshots of T2, but after awhile, I got used to it. I don't want to make this a T2 vs. D3 type post, so here are the things I like and don't like so far:
Like:
- Pets and fishing
- Lots of choices with stat/skill placement (also being able to recall the last 3 skills you put pts into)
- More exploration and quests
- Being able to switch weapons and skills quickly with no wait time
- Looting - I've gotten some pretty good items already (set, uniques) in my first few hrs
- Feels less "grindy" since leveling up seems to go pretty fast
- Bosses seem smarter to me for some reason where they don't just stand there and take damage
- Music reminds me of D2 LOD
Don't like so far:
- Online play seems to be having problems, but this is probably normal for big title launch days
- Wish inventory could be bigger
- Graphics - they're ok, but would have liked a darker atmosphere
- The loading screens when entering new areas take a little long to load
- Story - I still don't really understand what's going on, but luckily, story isn't as important to me as the gameplay.
Overall though, for $20, I think it's one hell of an awesome game and I'm already looking forward to an expansion. At first I thought T2 was just hype, but now I'm a believer.
-
All in all, I'm very happy with this game. Borderlands 2 got on my nerves faster than it should have, and this game is like comfort food for me when BL 2 is annoying me to no end. -
My daughters, 11 years old, LOVE the game already.
-
That's cool. My kids are too young for it, but how I wish I could play with them. Hehe.
7 Reasons Why You Should Be Playing 'Torchlight II' Right Now - Forbes
Do you guys press 'M' three times to have the map on the right? I found this very handy since I'm more of an explorer. Some just go straight for the star on the map, but I uncover every bit looking for locked chests and keys and secret portals. Having it on the right is really helpful. -
-
And check out my specs. Does it matter maybe that I have all the settings set to the absolute highest with AA and VSync on? The game is super smooth, otherwise. The loading screen is lacking in art and tips, but I don't care. I usually stretch a little when the loading screen comes on. Lol.
-
I have to really learn about the basic same types of things that were in D2 lol. Stats/skills/gear... i have to relearn the ways to use 'em here lol.
-
Make sure you're constantly swapping junk items to your pet's inventory and send him to town to sell it all (shift +left click makes it easy and fast). I don't think I've ever had a full inventory unless I forgot to deposit gems/nice upgrades in the bank (hopefully there's still a bank in TL2). Your pet is only gone for a minute or so at most, so inventory management is really not a problem.
-
The only thing different when it comes to loading between our specs is that I'm using FancyCache. I thought it's mainly just for show, but the game just flies for me. Weird. I'll have to test this with and without FancyCache. -
I've been going back and forth between classes unable to choose one primary class I'd like to play.
Can someone suggest a class? -
-
Damn. I must have collected over 30 gems and when I went to transmute (in Act II town), I got 4 randoms. I got too greedy and tried to transmute the 4 chaos gems and ended up with 2 crap chaos gems. !
Mind you the 4 I had before had crazy reflect stats on trinkets. Now it's just something stupid and useless for trinkets AND weapon.
Tip: Don't get greedy when you see good stats on a gem. -
And yeah, it's never a good idea to be greedy with Torchlight's gambling system -
Hey, anyone have an extra copy from a 4-pack they'd like to sell? I can PayPal the $15, or we can do a trade with some of my inventory items.
Thanks.

Torchlight 2 was released Thursday, September, 20, 2012.
I've been playing it since last night. -
Duo normal with my bro for 2 night, lvl 28 now. For some reason, the quest area outlevel us.... quest area are like lvl 34s,I dun think we missed any obvious optional(green) quest.
The best thing? Identifying no longer make you wait a whole three sec ! and it have the same sound as enter portal as D2 when enter dungeon LOL
Loading time need help though...
Edit: also the game underutilize my 6970m~~ but never brother check fps, since it is so smooth (like back in the day using a intel integrated graphic to play D2 lol) -
What difficulty is everybody playing, i started on normal but normal feels a little too easy.
I restarted on veteran and it seems perfect, not too easy or hard and challenging with big mobs and elite enemies.
On another note, I already have an armor set and a few uniques. I'm sure most people found good stuff too.
This game made loot fun again. -
The beginning of the game on normal difficulty is a piece of cake, you'd need to stand and do nothing in a middle of a large battle in order to die and every hit kills an enemy, every crowd control skill kills an entire mob, so don't jump to conclusion that anything is 'imba' just yet
I've read that even on normal the game can get tough later on, but I think I'll do what Kiol did and take it up a notch, because on normal it feels like playing Solitaire or doing house chores - my mind just drifts away while stuff happens. That's OK if you want to relax, but when you actually want to play a game it's a bit problematic. -
Load times on a Samsung 830 ssd are still pretty long (about 6 seconds) for big areas, but not that bothersome. Loving this game still and I hope Blizzard takes a few pointers or two from Runic if they want the Diablo franchise to survive.

I explore entire maps. I uncover EVERYTHING. Every rock, board, chest, etc. are flipped and opened.
I also noticed many D2 sounds. Hahaha.

For a Change, Here's a Borderlands 2 Easter Egg in Another Game
just found it today too -
Anyone have performance drops in big fights with AMD cards? Normally it's around 60 but when there's lots of skills flying off it can drop to 30's... Also I I got FPS of 10 during that phase beast jelly level with the 100+ jellys.
-
I've noticed slow downs during big fights with lots of spells and effects
It kinda goes into slow motion for about a seconds then recovers.
That's with a 680m -
Mine is smooth as butter and I'm almost lvl 50 with some crazy, epic battles under my belt. I have settings all set to the highest with AA and VSync.
Do any of you guys ever feel like you wish you had FRAPS or whatever on to record the boss fights you're in at that very moment but it's too late? Lol. TL2 has the most epic boss fights I've ever been in, in any ARPG. Ever. -
Weird. I had 12.4 installed and going to try 12.8 tonight. I also notice that the 12.7 CAP3 has a profile for Torchlight that says it boosts performance for Single GPU ( I have single GPU)... Never had experience with using a CAP before, do I just install it and it starts automatically? Or is there some other setting I have to turn on.

I just found the places to find all the robotic parts, but I don't want to ruin it for everyone by posting it here. PM me if you want the locations.

Haven't had the time to play too much of Torchlight 2 (mostly co-oping Borderlands 2). Just finished act 1, engineer is pretty awesome but I'll have to give the other classes a try as well. Also can I just say how much better arpg's are without having to connect to a server (D3, POE). I live in NZ and I struggle to get playable pings on both games, POE is the worst even though its being developed in NZ.
