One of the laptops I currently have is a Toshiba Qosmio F55 which I have purchased since it was brand spankin new. I really believe that this laptop was overlooked and under-rated when it came out as for an 15.4inch, it has incredible sound from the Harmon Kardon sound system and a nice Nvidia 9700M GTS card. My question is I know that the Toshiba X305 also came with the 9700M GTS and some models come with the 9800M GTX which should be both the same form-factor. I know my 9700M GTS card is the same one as the X305, so what are the chances that the 9800M GTX will fit and work in my laptop too without any problems ?? Toshiba sells the video card and it is pretty expensive at about $900+, but besides the price what do you all think, will it work ?? I would be nice that I can add an Intel X9100 or T9900 CPU and the 9800M GTX to make it an expensive sleeper !!! God Bless :)

Hmm, well if they'll sell you the card, then it'll work. I'm also assuming that it would come with the proper heatsink, but heat would be a major concern.

900$ for the video card, or laptop? If its 900$ USD for the vid card you can just buy a whole new laptop with a 9800M GTS for that price. I don't think I could ever pay that much for a laptop video card (even if I had all the money in the world).

Yeah $900 for the GPU pretty crazy expensive, but again I like this laptop. I guess if I do purchase the 9800M GTX if it does not work, I can take a loss and I can try and sell it to someone that has a Toshiba X305 that can use it and upgrade with it for much lower than I purchased it.

You can actually buy a GTX from several Clevo resellers for around $700.

Yeah thanks for the info. Unfortunetly Toshiba uses what looks like a modified MXM card that uses a Toshiba connector.

the 9700M GTS is actually pretty good.... since it has a 256-bit memory interface.

the Toshiba F55 was on my list of bang for the buck high-end notebooks.

the 9700M GTS performs like the 8800M GTS.

it can be overclocked if you want more performance... but its still a good performer.

it should easily outperform a mid-range (128-bit) card like the 9600M by over two times.

Ahh maybe I will just sell my Toshiba Qosmio F55 here or on Ebay and just keep the Alienware m15x I have now which currently has the 8800M GTX and when the Nvidia 260M / 280M GTX cards come out, just update it with that !!! Yeah-Yeah that's the ticket !!! :D God Bless :)

only the Clevo notebooks so far will support the GTX 260M and 280M.... the other notebooks out there will probably not be able to support them (without an updated revision)
