As of August 23rd...
Backers: 17,210
Pledge: $682,571 / $900,000
Days remaining: 21

I will be pledging after I make this post. I REALLY want this game! :D

This news is not only refreshing, but welcoming. I am actually excited for this game and I'm definitely looking forward to playing it. My faith in the dying RTS genre has been restored after EA broke my heart with C&C General 2 (see here):

Keep in mind, just because a project receives its funding, doesn't mean you'll necessarily ever receive the final product. Choose your level of support wisely.

I might pledge $20 that way if the game is done at least I get something for it. They better be able to bring this thing to reality for $900k. I'd ultimately like to see the $1.3M stretch goal but 21 days to go and they're only half-way to that point. That's 120k people spending $50.

I reckon they will make it. It is at 703,000 now that is just over 20K in one day. They might be able to make one of their stretch goals. Or perhaps even extend the funding period :)

Pretty exciting stuff. Could be the first decent RTS out since Tiberium Wars. Also I think it is fantastic that they have the original TA narrator back. Now all they need is a SP aspect to it.

You can also use paypal. There is a link to be able to use it on the page linked above. That is how I dropped my 20 bucks :) If funding stays at 20k a day then they might be able to make 1.1M and at least develop sea units. Perhaps keeping the funding open would be great so finally a SP can be developed :)

I went with the 40$ pledge for the soundtrack and BETA access.

I'm hoping that the soundtrack will be similar to the original, which I found to be a masterpiece - one of the best soundtracks for its time.

Original Soundtrack:
1) Total Annihilation - Soundtrack - YouTube
2) Total Annihilation Soundtrack - The March Unto Death - YouTube
3) Total Annihilation Soundtrack - Licking Wounds - YouTube
4) Total Annihilation Soundtrack - On Throughout the Night - YouTube

We have an 11-month wait (July 2013), I assume BETA will launch 2-3 months before the release. They're also offering Alpha access, but the package for that is out of my budget. Can't wait to play this, the wait is going to be brutal :p

Up to 713,998$! Looks like the game is going to be guaranteed at this rate. I just hope we get all the "Stretched Goals" by the deadline.

it is 719k already, this thing will definitely come true :) I am considering to increase my pledge to 40 :)

Yep. It's not even in Alpha stages yet. Plus, it's not all about eye-candy - people have to consider that the game has to run smooth on most systems. If they make it too graphically intensive, it will bring most systems to their knees when hundreds of units are fighting simultaneously on the screen. Personally, I like the old skool look/feel of the game trailer because they've kept the original TA atmosphere :)

The people working on it worked on:
- Total Annihilation
- Command & Conquer Generals/Zero Hour
- Supreme Commander

(^some of the best RTS games of all-time)

...so this will definitely be a successful RTS game :D

In just 12 hours or so it has gone up another 24K since I last looked last night! This game will be awesome! I am seriously tempted to have my original TA games (old school triple cd box) sent over from the UK to Japan so I can give it a blast before this is released!

Lol is it another console port or something?

The only new games I will buy at the moment will be crysis 3, farcry 3 and now plantetary annihilation. It replaced C and C generals which I was gonna buy guaranteed until they removed single player the cretins!!

I wonder can TA be played over the net or is it too old? Perhaps we can play it together. I few co-op games on some of the massive metal maps for some old school fun!

^^ Indeed! They are saying 12 hour battles over internet or LAN! :) I am so looking forward to PA :)

Btw, DON'T buy Dark Souls, seriously, it is a game meant for consoles apparently.. turns out even Namco said that the pc port will be horrible at some point over the last few months, can you believe this?

EDIT: Bro sorry I read your TA, PA :) As awesome as it was (TA) I don't think anyone can bear with graphics or the slow pace of TA anymore :) we need PA! 770k almost!

When I wrote that, I was just thinking of what EA did with C&C3. If you play it on low-medium settings, the game looks awful/decent. High settings, the game looks incredibly gorgeous (best looking RTS game I've seen yet). It's night and day. At the time you needed a good system to enjoy the game, whereas with SCII, the different between low-med and high isn't really noticeable, so someone with a 500$ laptop can enjoy as much visually as someone with a 1500$ laptop (at least that's how the visuals felt to me when comparing setting options). :)

Yeah, I wonder if multiplayer would work properly. Last time I played it was when I did a 1vs3 skirmish on hard ...now that is fun :D

I am SO looking forward to those 12 hour battles over LAN. Finally, an RTS game with the length of a Civilization game.

I definitely won't be playing the 12 hour games often, though :p I bet they're going to have an option for short, average, long and extremely long game modes.

Only 119k to go ...that's about 4-5 days at the current rate.

Indeed 115K now :) I think 1.1 million ought to be hit if we are lucky! Perhaps more if funding increases during the last day or 2!

I am still really hoping a single player campaign aspect to the game will be released at some point though.

Did we play the same game?

SC2 on low looks like Warcraft 2/3. Seriously.
The jump from low to med shader settings makes a ridiculous difference.

CnC 3 looked pretty good. I think World in Conflict is probably the prettiest RTS/RTT I've played. The Nuke was like... the most satisfying explosion I've ever seen... actual suction effects and everything.

SC2 low vs medium is pretty big difference, but med all the way up to ultra is like almost no difference.

Yeah, World in Conflict is/was a great game. Wish they'd make a true sequel.

In any case, I just pledged $20. I've spent a lot more with nothing in return, so why not? It looks promising. And $20 for a decent RTS is an excellent deal.

I'm pretty close to pledging $20 myself. Being a big SC1 fan, very few RTS's had really impressed me for their multiplayer - but TA and Sup Com 1 were excellent.

My only issue is that I am paying for a product... with no guarantees on what actually happens. I think thats a conceptual thing for me - I have to work some pretty lame jobs part time first to earn money... but these guys are ultimately under no obligation to produce the game at all (yes highly cynical, I know).

Then again, it looks so freaking awesome...

What do you think the chances are they reach the goal?

Just wish some Saudi sheik drops like a couple of mil in order for them to make the game. :D

edit pledged $20

Maybe it's just me then, because with SC2, I barely noticed a difference with different setting categories - perhaps I missed single setting when I was comparing low-med-high.

Oh yeah! I forgot about World in Conflict. I should look it up again and replay it - I see it for 9.99$ on steam right now for the complete edition.

Haha, yeah. That pledger is one luck man/woman!

I was thinking it might of been the creator of Minecraft that donated the 10k because he's not only incredibly wealthy, but mentioned this on his twitter:

"I have never been more excited ever: Planetary Annihilation - A Next Generation RTS by Uber Entertainment Inc — Kickstarter … I can't throw money fast enough at them!"

807k+ and 17 days. If this stays on track we'll have the naval and gas giant unlock.

887K !! I fully expect 900K in less than 6 hours! Fantastic. I really hope they release a third stretch goal!!!

Also a further 2 people have donated 10,000K or more! If this trend continues the amount funded vs time remaining could continue increasing exponentially!!!

I don't think calling them a gaming studio is a good thing.

But given the recent experiences with slack, money-grubbing publishers, it seems save for Valve, Indie is the way to go.

Yeah unbelievable how much support they've got. I honestly dislike the decision to focus on one 'race' only, I think having a bit of diversity in game (and in real life! :D) is important.

Lets see what the stretch goals are... only ~10k left to go!!

I think we'll be able to get 2 out of the 5 unlocks before the deadline and any of the unlocks that we failed to achieve will sell as DLC in the future ^^

It's already at nearly 950K. That is 50K during the past 24 hours alone. With 15 days left I think they can realistically get past 1.3M in 1 week from now!
