Looks like it's going to make the $1.3M stretch goal for "Gas giants and enhanced orbital units". It'll be a stretch to say they'll make it to $1.5M with 7 days to go. And to be honest I'd rather see "Galactic Wars" before "Lava and Metal Planets".
-
This game reminds me of Fragile Allegiance made by Gremlin (anyone?). I wish there was a kickstarter for a new Fragile Allegiance.
Anyway, looking forward to this one. -
Only around 150,000 away from metal and lava planets! Come on guys up your pledges!

Edit: oh, they have the game on GOG! Happy times. I'll check it out. -
I played the hell out of that game. There was something about it that made it so addictive. Maybe because it was a very complex game for a DOS game.
Anyway, if people have played Total Annihilation and are looking forward to Planetary... the I wholeheartedly recommend Fragile Allegiance! It even has multi-player!!
-
That being said, unlike the grumpy oldschoolers that refuse to 'get on with the times' and keep getting stuck in the good old days, I don't resent that fact. Newer games can be just as fun as old ones, if not more. But you really can't say something like: 'complex for a DOS game'
Anyway, sorry about the rant, I'll get off my soapbox nowThanks for the recommendation about that game, looks like a real lost gem.
-
I missed that part of the FAQ. Well if PayPal donations aren't included then they likely could already be at the $1.8M mark. Curious what the stretch goal 5 is then? Probably find out once it reaches metal and lava planets.

I agree. There seem to be numerous other pledge sources. If they hit 1.5M then I reckon 1.8M will be in the bank already once time is up and all funds are tallied. The cash is still rolling in though. Already more than 56K in just under 24 hours. 1.65 - 1.7M could certainly be attainable at this rate. However depending on the last stretch goal and the usual last minute rush as the count down approaches 1.8M on kickstarter alone is totally possible
Here's hoping we hit the final stretchgoal  -
Of course, I wasn't referring to game mechanics alone. Having to implement so many 3D animations within the game (you will see), is what made it "complex" to me.
If I compare it to today's games... it is a timeless RTS. I still play it and there is something that makes me want to go back every now and then.
Edit: I haven't had the chance of playing it on multi-player with anyone and that is mostly because it was so unpopular. -
If they can at least breach $1.5M at kickstarter, an extra $300k would mean 20% additional donations from PayPal and other means which seems reasonable. I'm sure if they're close they'll likely do it anyhow, I can't see them holding off at $1.75M for $50k.

Wow it was 1,467 last night at 11pm. Now 8 hours later it has jumped to 1,494M !! 26K in 8 hours is mental!
This game will easily reach 1.8M at this rate on kickstarter alone! -
There's 117 hours left to go, at the current donation level of $1,494,059 they will need about $2600 per hour to reach the $1.8M goal through just kickstarter. But it is looking promising for the galactic wars in any case. That's awesome.
The last stretch goal, whatever that is, is likely $2M based on the way the other tiers went, and likely will be reached if the KickStarter donations equal the $1.8M. Wonder what that last stretch goal is!?
I really hope this is successful and a very good game. If nothing else than just a jab at publishers to give them a virtual middle finger. -

Absolutely wingnut! Also we can also hope that it's success encourages the release of a new Homeworld and Dugeon Keeper titles. I sorely NEED those games to be rebooted too!
-
can you imagine galactic war campaign that we can log in and play on our free time and the game continues when we are offline (just with a basic defensive AI taking care of our base and military defense), then you can go back online and keep playing/expanding
if the scale is really big, and there are like 10+ players on one galaxy then I think this would be possible, like Utopia, but with 3d graphics, dreams!

$1060 dollars?

dude, what do you do for a living?
thanks for the donation btw! much appreciated!

congratz!

Easily on its way to $1.8M.
$2.0M they have a full orchestral score, which I find awesome. However, what happened to a single player campaign?
In the FAQ it says:
" Will there be a single player campaign?
Our funding goal is pretty modest for the quality of game we're making. So at that level it will definitely be multi-player focus. Hopefully we blow past that goal and we can unlock some more interesting stretch goalsStay tuned!"
-
I'm quite OK with that decision. I didn't care that much for Supreme Commander's campaigns (1 and 2) and I downright hated TA's campaign and never played it past a few single levels anyway, so hooray for skirmish only.
-
as long as we have skirmish, all is fine with me too. This team is not good with RTS campaigns as we can see from their pasts (just a handful of RTS campaigns was a success anyway, SC, AoE, AoM).
Btw real classy touch with the full orchestral score, I hope we will get to see 2.1M all the way! -
At $1,755,873! was going to snag the last $15 pledge, but someone jacked it. $20 it is!
at $1,756,150 at the end of my typing this. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
I have put some more money to the goal, since it appears that they are using only kickstarter for their money goals (paypal donations wont be accounted for the said goals) and I want that galactic wars!
-
Wish I could have pledged more than 20 bucks
Hopefully they can reach 2m too. I still listen to TA's soundtrack from time to time and I'm curious who they'll get to do the score for this.
-
bro, I think 40 bucks is optimum pledge, as we get beta access
alpha access is too expensive I agree, anyway, 20 bucks is 20 bucks, thanks!
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
20 bucks is just as good as 10k.
-
From the FAQ:
Will Paypal donations count towards stretch goals?
Yes! At the end of the campaign we will add funds from Paypal to the final amount to determine which goals we have met. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
I dont remember where I read what made me think like that -
We broke 1.8 million woot!

Are PayPal donations applied to the Kickstarter funding goal?
No, PayPal donations do not count toward the Kickstarter funding goal. However, PayPal donations will receive the appropriate rewards based on the amount. Kickstarter should be seen as the primary way to fund this project and PayPal is a backup method for those unable to fund via Kickstarter for whatever reason. -
come on! full orchestral score is within reach!
THIS GAME WILL BE LEGEN... wait-for-it -
Over $1.9M with a day to go, $2M through Kickstarter alone. I bet at least $300k from PayPal. Wonder what else they might do.
-

Just 21K needed to hit final stretch goal with still 6 hours to go!! I don't think the dev team imagined the project would be this successful. It sure gives the RTS genre hope
Maybe with all other proceeds they will add something more to this already great game! I reckon once finished and all proceeds added together they will have something close to 3 million in the bank -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its done. They have reached 2.1m
-
Crazy, well over $2.1M. And with the PayPal donations, they will likely exceed $2.5M. Hopefully they offer more great features to the game with that money (like SP campaign.
)
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
-
Sounds like they want to make it accessible to as many people as possible so it will likely play fine on an HD 4000/5000 at 720p
-
But the kickstarters been great, one of the bigger ones I've seen, hopefully more devs use this as a cue to move forward. -
They did a countdown show on Twitch and the Paypal amount was ~101k. Also the voice actress for GLaDOS made a cameo. I don't know how serious they were with the booze and all, but 64 bit support was mentioned.
