So I just beat COD Modern Warfare 2 on hardened Mode, just using my touchpad. Thats because my mouse broke 4 days ago, and the new one I bought from Amazon hasnt arrived yet.
I also beat the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo on Expert, a 3 days ago.
So, I wanted to know if I am the only one who actually plays games with his touchpad when no mouse is around.
Cheers

I started playing FPS games on PC with a touchpad, Halo all through a Thinkpad trackpoint and touchpad. Nothing special.
When I moved into rez my MX Revolution dongle broke, I played CoD 4 on touchpad. Nothing special.
When my MX batteries die, I use my SXPS touchpad for games. Nothing special. -
Oh really? well when I tell people on L4D2 that I am using a touchpad for gaming, they are usually quite surprised. Especially since I am often the best on the Server

I've used my touchpad before and dominated Halo LAN parties. I have a Synaptics pad, and the Momentum feature is a real blessing; it makes the touchpad work like a trackball: you move the cursor in any direction, and when you let go, it will continue in that direction and slow down and stop after a bit, just like a trackball. And you can adjust how long or short the deceleration is, and everything.
-
Trackpad is EVIL. I can barely manipulate around Windows with it let alone a game. Truly an awesome feat if you can game FPS with it.

I frequently game on my T43's TrackPoint, it works very well, very much more precise than a touchpad ever will be.
-
I used only the touchpad to beat COD4 on "Veteran" mode. It's not that hard once you get used to it.
-
the touchpad??!?!?!??!?!?!
i could never do that lol. -
>_> I really can't stand using a touchpad for ordinary tasks, much less gaming with it

A few games I can play using the touchpad...
Solitaire
Freecell
(No I can't play Minesweeper with touchpad)
Sims
and
Total War games -

Oh man I played Starcraft with my touch pad in a lan event. It was horrible I had a headache after the lan party was over lol.
-
I actually am okay using the touchpad for shooters.... the movement is fine, but my biggest problem is using the buttons... I struggle using both buttons while hands on the wasd keys moving me around... in a pinch it'll do just fine though!

proof?
how bout "i just beat L4D2 expert and COD4 veteran with a mechanical mouse, without the ball. i was using my two fingers inside the mouse independently controlling the x/y axis."
my point exactly, this iz the internet, youtube video or u lie. but yea touchpad gaming is hard, that's y i dont believe some of ya. -
It's not that hard if you practice quite a bit. It's like gaming on a trackball, it feels weird for a while but you adjust to it. Just yesterday a friend was playing CS1.6 on an EEEPC (12FPS lol), fair enough he had a Kof 1:3 but on a normal sized trackpad I'm sure it's not impossible to own.
-
I actually hate touchpad's, I have mine permanently disabled. So respect to anyone who can game with one, but seriously get a decent mouse.
-
Also, it was hard to beat COD6, no doubt about it. At points I was very frustrated and about to give up.
L4D2 isnt that hard on expert to be honest, if you got a good team of course.
So its really up to you if you believe me or not, but I can assure you that I am not lying.
-Also the sentence "youtube video or you lie" Is just silly - Just because I dont post a video of me completing a game it doesnt mean I didnt do it.

Just tried it out about an hour ago and it was horrible. I was running into walls a lot in COD4, and was dead before I could aim. One of the big problems for me was that my hands are big, so my left hand got in the way of my right, and I would have to turn the touchpad sensitivity up if I really wanted to play with it.
-
I have been using a touch pad for MW2 ever since I bought the game, and I find moving and shooting at the same time to be fairly easy while also keeping my aim. The only annoying part about a mouse pad are those stun grenades which make me just want to throw my laptop out a window.
But I also game with a mouse pad on MMOs like Aion. I have been tanking on that game for over a month and have never used a mouse. Now it gets really annoying sometimes since tab is broken in that game so manual targeting while still holding threat and moving at the same time is pretty challenging. Also I have all my moves keybound so it would be almost physically impossible to do this for someone who clicks. -

Edit:

I game on a touchpad its not hard as most of you say it is. I managed to beat COD4 plenty of times on hardened with a touchpad and only beat it once on veteran. Recently i beaten MW2 on hardened as well with a touchpad.

Well there's no point in bragging about paying with a touchpad so why would anyone do it? It's not like you get any prestige for it because it's simply unpractical. That's like saying I can eat with a fork but without my hands. Oh big whoop but honestly it's not practical so nobody really cares anyhow.
Anyhow, congrats to the OP for being able to use the touchpad for entertainment purposesGuess that means you can still enjoy a computer game when most of us would need a mouse setup to carry with us to do so.

Now, if you can put your feet behind your head.....

I occasionally play FPS games with a touchpad when I don't have a mouse, and I'd say that I'm pretty decent at it, but I'd still prefer using my Diamondback 3G any day. (although if I had to choose between a crappy ball mouse and my touchpad, I'd probably pick the touchpad.
)
Here's a video I made of me playing TF2 some time ago for you non-believers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejDfD1JB8zQ
Quality's pretty sucky, yea. I shot it using my W910i's camera. -
I think I'd struggle to play FPS with the touchpad! i have dabbled with RTS though using the touchpad, thats not too bad.

Well, I've been playing quite a few games on the touch-pad myself.
At first it was odd using the thing for just simple web surfing or everyday tasks
But ... after a day or so, I adapted, and then started using the thing in games even.
It's ok ... so long as the game has W,A,S,D buttons for movement and the mouse pointer for pointing.
Playing a game that uses arrows ... on a laptop with a touch-pad, that's not doable, because my palms go into a cross.
Shooters, adventures, RPG, RTS, etc ... I covered them all via the touch-pad -

I tried WC3 with the touchpad. I really tried. Like, tried. Hard. I lost. Miserably.
I'm sure it's not that bad once you get used to it, but wherever my laptop goes, my mouse goes. I can't even play solitaire with the touchpad (believe me I tried and failed lol). I might be able to play Fallout 3 with a touchpad though, VATS makes it doable for me -
I've used my touchpad in L4D at school a few times, during a break in class or something... As long as the sensitivity is pretty high, it's not too hard to play.
Being good with it is an entirely different question... -

I played Freelancer with a touchpad back in the day, and now I can't play it with a mouse. Granted, the controls are somewhat different from most other games.
