So after watching Initial D: Drift Racer, I have an urge to play a game that focuses on a) drifting or b) touge, on the PC.
Now I'm currently downloading NFS: Carbon (I have it for my PS2, but with my PS3 hooked up... you get the picture) to play the canyon outrun missions, but I know already that they're far and few.
Right now I'm looking into Grid and NFS: Shift. I know Grid has a touge mode, but can anyone tell me how it is? Is it a good experience and can one play the thrill of racing FDs and 86s sideways down a mountain?
Can anyone recommend other games?

Yeah GRID is awesome for togue races

GRiD has some great authentic touge
But you should also know that even though GRiD's touge events are amazing there aren't that many of them
I think ~4, but the midnight togue events are worth it, really tense and atmospheric
It's all dark with only your headlights
Here are some screenshots of a quick race I just did so you can get an idea of the midnight touge

Apart from that there are also some regular drift events that are alot of fun toLast edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015 -
I have both Grind and NFS:Shift. On Grid, drifting is harder than say Burnout, which calls sliding drifting, but it's not overly complicated and it's a really fun game in general.
Shift is fun too, but I avoid their drifting sections like the plague; it's awfully complicated and just kind of a pain to drift in that game. -

I think I'll invest in Grid, sucks that you can't really customize cars aesthetically but the R34 and RX-7 should hold me over.
As for Shift, it's definitely not a buy. Once I get my M17x I'll give that a run too. -
Well, there's a b-game coming out by the end of the year, and kinda focuses on arcade touge races and....yeah. I'd discuss it further if it is alright, but I'm not sure lol
I'm actually trying to get my hands on some extra money to invest on a 4650--my card is too weak to be playing GRiD, plus my controllers also too sucky to play, so I want to invest on a racing wheel too.
GRiD was one of the games I found fairly good at the graphics side, and physics it's so-so, though I want to know how hard NFS Shift is. -

What is this new arcade game? :O
Yeah I'm happy to have my M17x arriving in the next few days. I'm going to try and hook up my PS3 controllers to it. -
O and if you still have your ps2 I recommend getting Tokyo Extreme Racer: Drift and its sequel Drift 2, that whole game is dedicated to Togue racing at night and day events as well.

i dont like the new rice burner games. the cars go too fast and its unreal.
i did hear that shift is pretty tight tho, just havent played it yet. -
Anyway, talking about GRiD, is it more GPU dependent than on CPU? -

It's a bit of both. You'll need 2.66 GHz Duo Core (or an AMD Athalon 64 3000+) and at least an Nvidia 6800 (recommended 8800).
