The game comes out in the US today but, as of yet, no reviews posted. Strange as it looked promising. Lack of decent marketing or a publisher trying to get a mediocre game out before critics tear it apart?
Regardless, I'm thinking of buying it and was wondering if anyone had got it and could attest as to the performance of the game.

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I've read a couple reviews. For the most part it sounds like Transformers fans will likely be pretty pleased compared to previous titles in the franchise. The campaign is short and one review said the difficulty feels a bit unbalanced.
The MP sounds pretty cool with the usual stuff and 3 co-op modes. I think I'll have to pick up 2 copies just for that. Me and a friend could have a great time with this.
Also it's $40 on PC vs $60 on PS360 (USD/CDN). At that price on PC I may not have to wait for a sale.
Edit: Bah! I wish it was on Steam. That would make purchasing said game so much easier. :\ -
It is on Steam...
Transformers: War for Cybertron on Steam -
360 version got a 9/10 on ign
-
Downloading now on Steam, I hope it's good. XD
-
I just watched a few videos and it actually looks pretty good. I may have to pick it up. I love transformers but past games were kinda bad.
-
Quite enjoyed the one on PS2 but the PS3/Xbox 360 ones have been lacking tbh, might also pick this up if its any good.

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
I think I was too early, as now I see it all over the front page too.
Edit:
Can anyone gimme a breakdown of the PC controls? -
on gamspot, the average of 25 users' ratings is 9.5
-
Review embargo is up! Destructoid and Kotaku have given it great reviews - 8/10 seems to be the growing consensus. Sweet.
I knew High Moon would deliver (say what you will be The Bourne Conspiracy was a damned well made movie tie in that had a lot of nice little touches that lesser developers wouldn't have bothered to include). -
Ummm, I don't know what I was expecting, but certainly not a game this good... Not good, great is a better word. I am just at the Decepticon attack on Star Scream's station and it is blowing my mind. Cut scenes run at 60 game never drops below 30 FPS, just like Force Unleashed it is locked at 30 though. Uses PhysX as well, which is awesome. Here are some pics:
Deserves the 9/10 rating, I haven't been this impressed with a game from the start in awhile. -
How's the third person perspective? I'd prefer first person, but I'll see what my thoughts are if/when I buy it. Will wait for it to drop a few bucks before buying.
-
Before you buy:
FPS capped at 30.
Non-customizable controls
No dedicated servers
Only textures customizable via graphics settings (low, med, high)
Unreadable ini files.
Great game (lovin' it), but HORRIBLE port. Btw, I'm capped at 30FPS (low, haven't tried medium or high) nearly constantly on my rig.
4GB RAM
GTX 260M
2.00 GHz Dual Core
W764 bit -
Also, nice pics - game looks great. What's performance like? I don't mind capped 30 FPS (Split/Second and Force Unleashed come to mind as playable, if not fantastic, ports that I enjoyed).
What specs are you running it on?
I managed to get Split/Second running at a constant 30FPS at 1920x1080 on High and Force Unleashed the same maxed out (with a few dips here and there) so am hopeful for this too. -
Hmm this looks pretty cool, may give it a try

I've already done a good number of ninja sneak attacks on Sniper Scouts who get stuck in tunnel vision in a somewhat safe spot as I just fly around 'em and then transform upon landing then clock 'em in the head. I'm a level 10 Scientist -

Game runs really well for me - 1920x1080 maxed out, no vsync, and it never dips below 30FPS (apart from occasionally during certain cutscenes).
It's an awful port with regard to a lack of changeable settings and configuration options but performance is rock solid and the game looks fantastic.
Really enjoying it so far. -
if the fps is maxed at 30 fps....what does vsync do?
-
Haven't tried enabling vsync yet, will try and let you know. -
Windows XP Pro SP3
AMD Dual Core 6000+
2GB 667Mhz PC5200 RAM
MSI K9A2GM-FIH
ATI HD4850
Game gets under 30 FPS easily during firefights.

Performance is 80 - 120 fps after using the frame unlocker.

Easy to use, I have to sign in BEFORE using this program though, or else it will throw me out of the game. But it's a great little program.
-
Oh and LaptopNut is that kind of performance during multiplayer or during singleplayer?
-
I just tried it. getting 60+fps now in all gametypes.
Runs so smooth, love the game even more now -
-
-
Thanks man! Seems like all people who get good performance (around 60 and up) have at least a quad core or Intel processor. My system is exactly on the recommended system requirements, but I call under 30 FPS an absolute MINIMUM, not recommended performance at all.
-
Any chance in hell it would run (on any settings) on my system?
-
Sure I'd say it would be playable, just not that smooth and expect some FPS slowdowns during heavier firefights. Don't use high resolutions, maybe textures on medium. In the end it all depends on what kind of performance YOU want!
-
Played it at 1680X1050 with medium settings, you should be able to get away with low settings and maybe a slightly lower res tbh.
-
Wow it really is pretty well optimized. I saw "the only customization is texture quality and resolution" and immediately thought it would just be a badly optimized console port.
But my vostro can run it just fine at 1280x800 with medium textures.
