I've been thinking about getting myself a triple monitor setup, though on the cheap. Currently, my desktop uses a 22" 1080p monitor, and I think my desk has room for two additional monitors, albeit smaller in size. I see that I can find 17" 1280x1024 monitors for pretty low prices, such as the HP Compaq LE1711, though I was curious about how using two different monitor models in a triple monitor setup would affect things like gaming. I realize that I'll probably have to upgrade the GPU (currently a GTX 560SE) to get decent fps if I do this, though would there be any adverse issues with having one big monitor and two smaller ones instead of three of the same? I'm just asking out of curiosity.

i bet you'd only be able to game on one monitor, like KLF said NV surround is done on monitors at identical resolution

i'd take an identical monitor just to be safe because the size measurements might be a bit different and the bezel..... lets not get into that, it annoys me

Different resolution monitors should work but then the lowest resolution would be native and rest would be scaled down. Definitely not the optimal situation. If not identical monitors but at least all of them should have same resolution.

Honestly I'd look at getting three of the same size/res. You can get pretty cheap triple monitor stands ($100 or less) so long as they're all VESA.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I was just curious about being able to triple-monitor game on the cheap, but since that doesn't seem to be possible, I can wait. x2 1080p monitors of any decent quality and a new GPU are far beyond my impulsive budget.

    Thanks for the replies, guys.
