Hey guys, I've been having trouble updating my graphics drivers from 12.8 to 12.10 as you could gather from the title of this post.

What happens is I go into the control center and I go down to Information > Software Update

It says AMD Catalyst 12.8 (Last update Sunday August 19th, 2012)

So I check for updates and obviously 12.10 is available. So I download it, then I normally choose Express install. I see the damn thing installing on my system. But even after I install the new drivers it STILL says 12.8. I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong here.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with CCC?

I'm going to try to download the file directly from the website and see what happens if I install it that way. But any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    -Ian

Try using Driver Sweeper first. Then do a clean install from the AMD website. The 13.1 WHQL driver is out today.

I recommend no. Don't use Driver Sweeper. It seems to me, if there is a disaster story with AMD, there is likely Driver Sweeper lurking in the background.

If anything, Prasad should know this, use the newly released AMD Un-Installer, though I haven't read any reason why it should be used, why just uninstalling as instructed by AMD for years now wouldn't be fine without it.

Also making more than one thread about the same thing is against this forums rules

@hulawafu77, the OP is trying to use the software update within CCC. I doubt he's used Driver Sweeper prior to this. Driver sweeper has always worked fine on all the AMD graphics powered computers my friends and I have worked with. Ofcourse, the newly released AMD Un-installer should work fine just as well! Alternately, the OP may as well try the integrated software update again as the newer 13.1 WHQL is online and should show up for download from within CCC.

I know, he created this same thread in Sager/Clevo where I told him NOT to use the updater as it was stated by AMD, NOT to use it and disable it.
