Hey, I just purchased a dell inspiron 9300 with a 256 mg geforce 6800 go. Im having problems upgrading the drivers to version 77.72 from the Nvidia site. When I try to upgrade the drvers during installation, there as a message that says "cannot find drivers compatible with version 77.72 setup will now close" or some **** like that. I install it in my Nvidia folder along with the old versions i think they are 77.72..and 77.75 and it doesn't work. What should i do to fix this problem. The graphics in some of my games are't as good as it could be because i cant instal this damn driver update, your help would be greatly appreciated on how i should go about doing this.

Go cards need special modded drivers. Although it is the OEM's responsibility to provide them, they usually update only rarely. The best place for nVidia drivers is probably http://www.laptopvideo2go.com. The instrcutions there are pretty straightforward.
-
What driver would u recommend theres a ****load of them and i just tried one and it didn't work. I need the driver update becuase I can only run battlfeild at a big resolution. Please link me to the best driver to download!
-
I'd reccomend either the 77.70s or, if you're willing to take a slight risk, the 80.40s. Just download the setup file, extract it, then save the modded .infinto the setup folder.

I don't understand what to do after I've downloaded it. From that site it tells you to delete your old driver and do about 50 things before you finally get it started...i def don't want to take the risk of messing up something. IS there a way you can just update them? Even with the ones that are cracked or "modified" it says it's a driver update for the geforce 6800 go but when you hit the setup it displays the same exact message as i did when i tried to install the regular geforce 6800 driver it says "cannot find suitable hardware for this driver" or some BS message like that. Could someone give me a detailed step by step on how to update to a new driver?

Ok I went to laptop2go.com or whatever that site is and i downloaded version 77.76 driver. I deleted the old driver from my system rebooted my computer and installed the 77.76 driver from the control panel, system, device manager etc. When I selected a driver from the .inf file, i chose the "Geforce 6800" since the "Geforce go 6800" wasn't on the list. Whenever I play battlefeild 2, the max screen resolution I can get is 1156x840 (not exact but around there), and on my old computer with the nvidia 77.72 update I could run the game all the way up to 1260x1040 or something like that. Battlefeild 2 runs really choppy now even on lower resolutions. Please help!! What driver from laptops2go would u recommend or has worked the best for u? Did i do something wrong in the installation by install the regular "Geforce 6800" driver? Please help!!! im sorry for being a little ***** but i want the most current drivers available! thanks

Apparently you did not use the modded .inf file. If you don't, you'll encounter all sorts of problems. Also, your resolution is limited to the maximum resolution of your monitor: the WXGA+ screen can only go up to 1440x900, so you obviously can't select a resolution with a larger height than 900 (such as 1280x960).
Now, step by step:
First up, intall either the 77.70 or 80.40 drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com. To do this, download both the driver setup and the .inf file (you'll have to select "save link as" for the .inf file). Then, extract the drivers and move the .inf file to the folder with the extracted setup utility, overwriting as prompted. Now, go to "Add/Remove Programs", and uninstall "nVidia graphics driver". After the reboot, go to where you extracted the Laptopvideo2Go drivers and run the setup program. Restart when prompted.
Now, for the overclocking. This is even simpler. Right-click on your desktop and go to "nVidia display -> Laptop Display." From the menu on the left, shoose "Clock Frequency Settings." Select the "Manual Overclocking" radio button, select "Performance (3D) from the dropdown dialogue, and then click "Detect Optimal Frequencies." After a few moments, it will alter your clock settings on its own. Now, make sure "apply these settings at startup" is checked and just hit "Apply" then "OK."
If you have any more troubles, just post. Also, in the future please don't make multiple topics for the same problem. -
thanks lowly...it helped upgrade my drivers as well..cuz i was stuff wit the 76.50 drivers i had already...and it wouldn't let me upgrade...but now i got the latest ones....so thanks
