I have been using Steam for a year or so now and have never had a problem. But today I tried to load GTA:SA and when I start the game the box that says "preparing to launch GTA:SA" shows up but the game never loads. None of my other games do this and I have tried to troubleshoot it myself.
I verified the game cache. It is not fragmented. I have restarted both Steam and my computer but nothing has worked yet. I know that if I deleted the local content and downloaded it again it would most likely work with my slow internet connection I'm leaving it as my last option. The Steam Faq's have been no help and the forums are rubbish so thought I would ask here.
Thanks

Try backing up the game, deleting it from your computer, and then restoring from the backup.

Hi,
here's the solution:
Here is what you do:
- Exit Steam
- Go into your Steam folder and delete the following files.
- clientregistry.blob
- steam.dll
- steamUI.dll
- Restart Steam and allow it to update..
and Voila!..
let me know the results
