Hi all,
I've been having some funny problems with my m40-jm3 lately. Im not sure why, but whenever I play mid-range games the graphics are ok, but if im in a game and watching a cutscene or an intro video, the graphics are all grainy and look like they were made up of large dots. Im playing starcraft and even the intro movie is grainy. I think im up to date on video bios and stuff, but with a laptop, im limited to the drivers released by toshiba?
My comp has 1.6 ghz, 128 nvidia go6600, and a gig of ram.
my nvidia drivers are currently 71.70 or soemthing like that, I tried updating from nvidia site, but it won't install.
Im also trying to play oblivion. The auto detect says that I should be able to play at medium settings, but even if i set everything to low... the game lags. Anyhelp would be appreciated. Is my card fried? I have no clue, maybe this comp just isn't very good for any games past 2000.
Thanks for help.

This does not sound good mate.. Your notebook should run Oblivion at 800*600 medium textures fine...
About that nVidia drivers, try to download mobilities, maybe that works? I am not really a nVidia guy, but hopefully this way your thread will get more attention.

The ones from laptopvideo2go are great - you have to replace the INF file, there's directions on the site. The tweaksrus drivers are easier to install, but I don't like them as much as I do the laptopvideo2go.

Ok. I've installed the nvidia 84.25 drivers, and done defrags and set everything to lowest, but the game still won't run, and the grainy graphics continue. I've also updated the bios from the toshiba site. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this? I've tried running 3dmark06, but it won't run, so i ran 3dmark05 and got about 2200 I think, it was very slow. In some scenes it was going at 1 frame per sec.

3DMark is designed to push cards to get a performance scores, so getting 1FPS sometimes isn't something to worry about. 2,200 in '05 isn't a bad score.
Perhaps it's the game - have you tried it on another computer? I would also see if you can patch it.
