Is it the real deal and the mainstream answer for a 15.4 notebook or will the 128 mb 7600 hold it back?
I'm wondering how far back the 7600 will throttle it.

The Sony VAIO FE is a very nice notebook in my opinion . . I haven't seen any benchmarks for the 128MB version of the Go7600, but I hope they are better than the 128MB X1600 in the Acer's. They are scoring much lower than the more common 256MB version. I belive the memory type between the 128MB and 256MB models is also different - it seems like the 128MB cards have either GDDR2 or DDR, not really sure, and the 256MB cards have the fastest memory available, GDDR3.
Either way, the Go7600 is a nice upgrade from the 128MB Go7400 before it. -
I just found benchmarks on a french site that listed 3dmark03 at 7441 and 3dmark05 at 2990. Not good news... My excitement is fading.

why dont you look off the mainstream and pay a cheaper price... have a look at powernotebooks.com they have 2 models which are 15.4 inches and havethe top graphics cards for the 15.4s at the moment
plus if you wnt to see if they're a reputible company check... www.resellerratings.com and www.bbb.com (no complaints in 3 years)

I already ordered a Z96J from them
I'm just playing devils advocate here and pointing this out/inquiring. -

I'd like to wait until someone from the forums here gets their hands on one, clocks the gpu (may be underclocked).
From what Nvidia's site says though, it has literally twice that specs of the 7400. -

Either way, the 128MB versions are not impressive . . whether they are limited by the amount of memory they have, or the clocks or memory types are different, I don't know.
I get 2800 stock with my 256MB X700.
