I have a laptop, I7-6820HQ (with Intel Graphics 530) motherboard and M1000M GPU at 2GB. Laptop has 16GB ram too.

It'll play World of Warplanes and World of Warships on High, and will maintain Destiny 2 at 35-38ish FPS on high, but I don't think it's going to handle Battlefield 5 or PUBG very well.

From what I've been able to find out, the GPU is replaceable. But with what, I can't really figure out.

The important question: what is the brand model of the laptop. We dont know if gpu replacement is compatible or not.

How can I confirm, without tearing the computer apart that my current one is replaceable and that the gtx1050ti will fit?

And is there a specific 1050ti for laptops?

Your m1000m is a mxm 3.0a card and that is sure. A gtx1050ti is also a mxm 3.0a card so dimensions are not a problem for that upgrade. Pascal cards gtx1XXX need an edp panel or optimus for working on lvds panels.

Thanks for the help! I've found a couple of tutorials on replacing the cards, and it looks fairly straightforward. Time consuming, but straight forward.

Is there a go to site for mobile video cards? I have no problem finding to 1050ti, but the designated mobile one seems to not come up in searches.

I'm a noob to all of this, sorry. :/

Bump. Looking for some help. The GTX1050Ti seems to only have a desktop version available. It seems like the GTX965m is an appropriate upgrade and would allow me to game better, but I can't confirm it'll fit.

Is there a website that will list available dedicated gpu's that will hit my current motherboard?

Well, I can confirm, for anyone down the road, the GTX 1050TI Mobile will not work. All of the 1050Ti are soldered to motherboards and therefore can't be used for a swap. So it's back to the drawing board on another MXM 3.0a card that can be used. It's likely only a couple, which makes it not much worth it at this point.
