Ive got a 460m gpu and it gets quite hot even when i'm playing games that aren't too graphically intensive so i'd like to underclock it to get the temperature lower. Ive got nvidia control panel to underclock.

I've tried looking online but haven't found any guides to help with this.

Is there an ideal relation between Core clock, memory clock and shader clock that I need to keep in order to keep my gpu stable?

Also what settings would you recommend I use to underclock?

If you want to lower temps lowering the voltage is more effective. Every GPU is different so it takes quite a bit of patience and small changes to see what works for your GPU.

to get lower temps, most of the time, lowering your voltage will do the trick.

Undervolting is the best way to reduce temps without sacrificing performance.

MSI Afterburner would be a good start.
