Is anybody here who is an expert with "Maxwell Bios Tweaker"?
My GTX 980M runs @1,043V under 99% load and in games. I can overclock +100MHz easy without voltage-increase in old games.
However, in 3Dmark or Battlefront the card doesnt boost, cause of powerlimit (this tells me GPU-Z), so I want to undervolt.
I am sure the GPU can handle the standard boost clock with lets say, 1,037V.

When I limit this one value (P00 max-state) to 1037,5V will this card be undervolted?
Before I flash I want to ask.
I havent change any setting (original Temp-limit, clocks etc.), I ONLY want to decrease voltage under full load (P00 state)

Install Prema's vBIOS. It disables the power throttle.
I wouldn't recommend playing with the tweaker, unless you know what you are doing.

He is a busy man. @Prema
Otherwise, check the TI forums, he is fairly active there too! -
so I'm not betting my luck on asking him although he's obviously the one person doing it

In the meanwhile I really managed to undervolt my 980M by -25mV, now running @1,018V stable @1180MHz core.
never exceeding 79C and rarely powerthrottling (only under really heavy load, but then max to 1150MHz or so).
maybe I will try 1,000V in the future but for now I am happy with its performance.
U have 2 Options: Either u undervolt, so that ur GPU will draw less power and stay "more often" in the TDP-zone (but then ur clocks wont be that high like before) - or u raise the power limit, but then ur GPU runs hotter and u shorten the lifespan of ur GPU (especially if u then overvolt).
Its ur choice. -
and it seems that the throttle became worse under certain games and load type, not necessarily being stressed at 100% load
Anw, i only have these in the power table tab, what exactly are they and what do I need to do to disable power throttle?

Sorry to be late... i have a M15x and i had did a lot of modified vbios with Maxwell Bios Tweaker. My GOAL was aim a 980m with low TDP and heat with similar performance of a stock 980m or at least between a 970m and 980m.
The first thing that come in our mind was temper with voltage table. I already tried do some mods and got no much sucess with this. For me the best choice was increase Boost table so you increase entire table of voltages for all clocks and you dont need mod only the max volt, because you already had moded entire table after increase frequency. Is like to do a overclock without change the slider in afterburner. So for me i managed to get max 1202mhz in boost table. After that i got crashes in games. So i am using max clocks for each volt in the table. The proof of that is when i do some overclock in afterburner my card crash because the clocks are at maximum for that voltage table.
If it was helpfull please send a feedback.Attached Files:

Anybody figure out how to undervolt without power throttle? I really want to lower 980M to like 0.9750V.....

Haven't worked with that stuff in quite some time.

... I used your work on the 880m and 980m and it never let me down. I am sure you can do it.

A vBIOS like that would not be stable for too many people. (If tested with throttle, they may appear stable but they crash the moment it actually keeps those clocks under shifting loads). Even 1v is already too low for some 980M samples. Also over time, as they age and degrade, the voltage would need to upped once again (RL result of 9 months 0.9xv testing on a 980M).

I also have a 840m and would like to know how you undervolted yours.
Did you used the voltage sliders or the boost table? -
how far could a 970m be underclocked in your opinion??
Gonna try later/tomorrow and ill keep you guys updated
I know every system is different but it could be good to have an idea of how much we could undervolt approximately -

then limit the max boost limit in the first tabHexalia likes this.
